Twin Electric Sunroofs not working ??

Once again, just sorted it myself. Just took a bit of thought and I stripped the lot down and have got everything working again. I notice over 150 people have read this thread so if anyone is having the same trouble I am happy to help out. Cheers

Twin Electric Sunroofs not working ??

Sorted it myself and so now have found its the motors themselves seized. Does anyone know if the window motors are the same as the roof motors? Mine are now out and soaking in WD40, but were well stuck. At most I would just need to replace the actual motor part and refit the housing and...

    Wet headlining

Duct tape does not really work unless you cover the whole thing along the roof surround and the gap at the edge of the glass. But it will eventually get in! There are two edges you need to seal on each roof. Are you sure its the roof drains leaking? Windscreen seals are also known to let...

Twin Electric Sunroofs not working ??

Hi Folks, I finally got round to putting the twin roof motors back in and connecting the switches up tonight and on pressing each switch I just hear a relay type clicking sound from the control module. No movement in either roof at all. But each direction of each switch does make the click...

    sunroof drainage

Can you get at the drain tubes from above with the roof open? Maybe fit a length of tube down the open end and hook this up to your compressor and blow them through?

Yes I must admit to being a bit of an Escort nut! I have owned one in some shape or form for the last 28 years! At one point I had 7 as a record atthe same time, but normally have at least the same two I have had for many years now. These two cars have been to New Zealand and back to UK twice...

Nothing done today sadly. Other than finding a supplier of 6mm sticky neoprene in town so I can make up my own gaskets. Got in late tonight as I went to pick up my new rifle from the gunsmiths after some nice modification work. So I suppose all was not bad!! But that's another story...

When I took over ownership the roof only had slight fade on the roof. So it got worse with a couple of summers. So maybe did have previous rubbing issues that started it off? Just looks weird how its gone in certain locations. The areas behond the front sunroof would also not get touched if...

Discovery 2 Leaky Roof - A drips Blog

Looking at the top of my roof now. The paint damage is a real strange pattern and at each of the sun roofs? What I pan to do now is just sand it all back for a good key and then do a wide satin black stripe right over the roof to tidy it up. See how it looks anyway? Looks like this just now...

Discovery 2 Leaky Roof - A drips Blog

Just had a short spell in the shed tonight. Had to work out how them roof bar feet work out. Front N/S looked very slightly damp but no real trace of leakage? Rear N/S was dry and the other side was the same... Front bar gaskets looked like this... Rear ones like so... Not...

Quick Roof Rail gasket question ...???

Sorted, there are two gaskets per corner. Each foot of the bars is made up of two gaskets stuck together... 2 quid each, but look real easy to make?

Quick Roof Rail gasket question ...???

Now I have stopped looking at that giff... They are listed as only 2 pound each with Rimmers, but the squae ones do look very simple. It was just the cut out shapes of the upper ones that have me confused? I will remove the bars tonight and have a look. I held off ordering last night...

Quick Roof Rail gasket question ...???

Hi Folks, Looking to order up some new gaskets for my D2 roof rails and notice that there are upper and lower gaskets listed for each of the four corners. Do I need to order two for each bolt as I just see the square gasket from the outside? Where do the cut away shaped upper gaskets...

Hi Dave, glad the threads has helped. Gives me inspiration to crack on if I do updates! Removing the headlining is really quite easy to be honest. I used some of the guides referenced in here and other sites and made a bit of a how to guide for myself. I added some notes to this as I went...

Tonight I finished off removing the seal from under the second roof glass frame... Under tray from inside the car looks like this by the way... Stared to clean up the loose silicone sealant around the drain cups, but then decided better remove them all together. They pull out with a...

Discovery 2 Leaky Roof - A drips Blog

You can actually remove all the trim and lining and still drive your car. This part only takes a couple of hours if you are working alone. Even if you break something it wont stop the car driving at all. Also if its your drain pots that are damaged then these can be fixed with the roof frame...
