    Disco 2 Viscous Fan Removal

Really? Thats the inside face of course, that you dont normally see. Its a V8 engine, so these are different to Diesel of course. TD5 I belive has a 32mm nut in is left hand thread. V8 is 36mm and right hand thread.

    Disco 2 Sunroof adjustment

The ally sliders either side of the glass are the bits I had to strip down to parts and reseat one of the long bar springs back where it belonged. Sorry I dont know the names of things but it was one of the silver bars you can see going from one side to the other. It had jumped out of its track...

    Disco 2 Sunroof adjustment

My front roof was not sitting right like yours after I redid the whole job over a year ago. It was the left side runner not sitting right and so not pulling the roof tight enough on that side ( I dropped it when it was out). I dont know the names of the parts and may not have taken pictures. But...

    Disco 2 Viscous Fan Removal

Hi Folks, Just thought I would share these tools with you all. Made them up today expecting my fan to put up a fight with my hammer, hence them being so grunty! But it must have realised I meant buisness and I didnt even need to show it the hammer at all. Worked a treat... A few hours of...

Disco 2 Loosing Oil Pressure, but intermittent ??

Noise is all top end and only heard when pressure lost (I think) so bearings should be fine. When I did the oil change it all looks a bit busy under there and couldn't even see the part where the relief valve sits. I will have another look under there this week and see if I can get to it without...

Disco 2 Loosing Oil Pressure, but intermittent ??

The more I read I am leaning towards having a go at replacing the oil pump gear set. Problem is parts here are not exactly off the shelf and for what ever reason, bloody expensive! So I normally order parts from UK and have them shipped. I have read through the RAVE manual just now and does seem...

Disco 2 Loosing Oil Pressure, but intermittent ??

Pre-empting a reply, would this issue be related to the oil pressure relief valve I have read about? Can I get at this without stripping the engine down? Hoping for an easy fix, with fingers very tightly crossed!! ;) Cheers

Disco 2 Loosing Oil Pressure, but intermittent ??

Hi Folks, Having strange trouble this past week and its got me baffled. I have searched for solutions and see various people having oil pressure issues but not intermittently like me just now? Started last week when towing a car trailer and I heard fast rattles under the bonnet like there was...

    Compass Zones for International Please?

Hi Folks, Looking to do a reset on my mirror display compass but I dont have a workshop manual and so am unsure what code number I require for my area. I belive these are all listed in the book, but I only have a copy of Europe. So would anyone please be able to tell me what the code ZONE...

    Wiring advice please (for spotlights)

Also take the feed from the 15A as your main feed through the relay. The sealed platic module you mention is probably just a relay itself? Will it not open up? If its broke anyway, worth trying to prise it open and see if it can be fixed. Or just by pass it and run your new relay wires from the...

    Wiring advice please (for spotlights)

You will still need a feed into the cabin if you want to be able to switch the lamps on and off independantly. If you just want them with mainbeam constantly, then no need for extra wire as mentioned.

    Wiring advice please (for spotlights)

As above, just take the feed from the back of one of the lights in the engine bay. Also do a direct fused live feed from the battery and obviously an earth close to the lamps. You then just have to run one single wire through one of the existing bulhead gromets from a switch in the cabin. Much...

How to - Strip and rebuild Sunroof Motor

Cheers chaps. Looking at door window motors they also appear to be the same. So I reckon they could also be rebuilt if they get slow or sticky. As additonal note, while I had the gearbox part off the drive shaft I stuck an allen ket bit into my drill and gave the whole gearbox a good spin up...

How to - Strip and rebuild Sunroof Motor

Aluminium housing should be nice and clean now, so time to refit the rubber O ring... My O ring had a slight raised section from previously being fitted, this sat facing outwards and on the right side like this... Lining up the pressed housing and the casting with the two screw holes...

How to - Strip and rebuild Sunroof Motor

Making sure the end plastic insert is still in place lower the motor shaft back down between the magnets. It will stick to the side before dropping the last 5 or 6mm, so you need to just give it a bit of help to seat fully. When in place it will trun by hand and remain central. Will look like...

How to - Strip and rebuild Sunroof Motor

My pressed magnet housing was pretty messy, corroded and full of gunk like so... The aluminium gear/drive housing was also full of gunk and dried out mess.. The electric connections block and brush housing was also manky... Motor coil was rusted up and dirty, the drive worm shaft...

How to - Strip and rebuild Sunroof Motor

I do believe the same motors are used for D1 and D2 so this will apply to both. I will assume that folks have already tested their electrics and worked out that their motor is not playing games. This normally happens after the dreaded leaky sunroof issues and when people have left things...

Discovery 2 Leaky Roof - A drips Blog

I am a slack arse me! I only just refitted the sunroofs this week! I did the hose test and water came pouring in through the front roof in the back left corner and through the clip that holds the roller blind in place?? On closer inspection the rear of the glass was not sealing down properly...
