    MOT Failure, Steering advice needed

Ok, heres whats happening..The MOT station are welding the U bolts. I will driv eit home - 3 miles. Then I will refit some custom U Bolts that have not been welded. It will run standard steering control arms and I will shim the rear axle to correct the ride height. This will improve the castor...

    Towing Capacities

I have had that happen. Its the coppers that overtake you with a quizzacal look that worry me. Do you think the V6 will help? The axles will stop the rear diving!

    Towing Capacities

I always used a 90 for towing long distances in the past and for a short while (wash my mouth out) I used a bitsa mushi...however I have this question: What will a series 3 petrol or diesel tow (and I mean in your experience not what the book says, although that would be a start - I think thats...

    MOT Failure, Steering advice needed

Priceless, the garage decided to have a fiddle about with blocking the axle and found that the u bolts have been welded to lengthen them, but thats ok cause they're susp not steering components. So they have blocked it and it seems to be going ok. I have found a supplier to make me some custom...

    MOT Failure, Steering advice needed

I'll try and get into the garage friday and get some photos. SHould have taken some when I was down there today really. Its such a shame as it really is a first class piece of welding on the bar! Anyway, extended U bolts are the way forward I think, Might have found a source of standard non...

    MOT Failure, Steering advice needed

standard one fouls the spring so won't fit on. I might be able to get away with spacing the axle out. Anyone know where you can get longer u bolts from?

    MOT Failure, Steering advice needed

I have the complete axles with the disc brakes on and a dual circuit master cylinder. It works really well, pulls up sharp, pulls up straight, the back end holds up nicely even when towing heavy loads....just a shame about this one thing. I reckon these usually get through cause no one spots...

    MOT Failure, Steering advice needed

I was told I can't even get an SVA with this particular issue. I will ask about the engineers report but I thought the ministry would have suggested that. Taking it somewhere else is an option, but this garage does all my work so I'd rather get it through there somehow....

    MOT Failure, Steering advice needed

I'm Gutted My Sherpa engined Landy with Rangey axles is through the MOT apart from 1 weld. Unfortunately that weld is on a steering component and they won't pass it. Heres the problem. Range rover axles, running on leaf springs. The rear steering track control arm (whatever its called, the...

    batteries???????????

have you checked the voltage in the battery or tried charging it up? The Mrs car probably doesn't have the amperage to turn it over, I have seen jump packs struggle with landys. You want a decent 90-130 Ah battery to crank one over nicely. Well that works for mine anyway :) Stokes a bit far or...

    What is it?

if you must use it..... Start with the stick pulled back towards the seat (the out position) when you are in 4th and the engines screaming (well you think its the engine anyway) put the clutch down and shove it all the way forward (the in position) you are now in a sort of 5th gear. The...

are you based in germany or Uk? I have the sherpa and the peugeot engined versions here. the sherpa is pretty much a 90 na so those parts should fit but there are a number of commercial breakers orund here who can supply sherpa parts. My local garage had no issues getting them.....

    MOT advise please !!

screens are cheap and there are loads around. I'd change the screen rather than get it repaired. I have heard that if you get it repaired free by your insurance company they can say its a claim...worth bearing this in mind depending on your policy, if its a classic it won't matter!

    fool tank

we used to be allowed 5% cherry in the lines, as we were using our diesel off road and then off road and that was allowed for the switchover. I think these days you need to run red or plain, I don't think mixing is an option.... That said if getting caught is unlikely who is gonna check you...
