Discovery 300 tdi Alarm advice PLEASE

Although my handbook shows the 2-button fob I'm pretty certain that the single button variety has an EKA code too. Even so, provided the spare fob you bought was from a UK based vehicle it should still transmit on the correct frequency with a small number of preset variations and be recognised...

    Air conditioning

When you press the button, do the engine revs drop slightly, or the engine appear to labour a bit more? If not then the electro-clutch probably isn't engaging which would give you a starting point for fault finding. If it does then a trip to your local aircon man is probably called for. If it...

How to release the bonnet ...

Cheers for the suggestions folks. BFandI won through (yet) again :) ~ course SWMBO firmly believes that it was the way she pulled the release catch that made all the difference ... and who am I to argue :D

Advice on buying a used TDi Disco?

Sorry, but my knowledge isn't very technical ... mostly historical (or maybe hysterical :D). I don't even know what a 12/19J is  except that I assume it's an engine of some sort.

    Belt screech,a saga.

Judging by the instructions in the workshop manual the answer is no  Looks like the turbo and manifold are removed together, sorry  I bet someone knows how it's done ;)

Advice on buying a used TDi Disco?

Hi guys, sounds to me like a short history lesson is needed here :o Both the 200 and 300Tdi engines are pure Land Rover designs, although it's possible they may have their roots in other Rover power plants. 200Tdi was designed specifically for the launch of the Discovery back in 1989 ~...

Discovery 300 tdi Alarm advice PLEASE

I sympathise with your predicament but, hopefully, all is not lost. If you know the emergency key access code (which should be amongst your vehicle documentation somewhere) then you can cancel the engine immobiliser using the key. The procedure is in the owners handbook. Once you've done that...

    200tdi diff lock

It's been a long time since I owned a 200Tdi so bear with me if I get this wrong. If memory serves me correctly the diff lock light should be directly below the glow plug one. It should be amber in colour (when lit) and looks rather like an "H" but with little wheels at the top and bottom of the...

How to release the bonnet ...

... from the outside of the vehicle? For some reason the release catch in the passenger footwell has stopped working. It feels okay but the bonnet doesn't open when you pull it. Anyone know how to get the bonnet open in this situation? TIA

    Sorry Central Locking again.

Sorry my memory wasn't as good as I thought it was ;)

    Sorry Central Locking again.

It's been a while since I did this but if memory serves me correctly the wire is made of braided stainless steel (or maybe aluminium). It connects to the bottom of the interior button and even had a threaded adjuster. All I did was shorten the wire by a few millimetres and the locks all started...

    Sorry Central Locking again.

I had this problem on a previous 300Tdi Discovery. Inside the door there is a small wire that links the lock motor to the interior button. This appears to stretch over time but can be adjusted quite simply. No need to remove the glass but you do need to get the door card out. HTH

does a v8 have an egr valve???

Not as far as I know ~ they don't need one. EGR systems were introduced to reduce particulate emissions from (specifically) diesels. Of course, if I'm wrong someone will put that right :) HTH SteveG

    Returning to the fold ..

Howdy all, I've just taken delivery of my fourth Discovery after about a year without one. This one is a 1997 300Tdi ES Auto in very good condition and sporting a system that lets it run on SWO. In the past I have been an active club member with North Somerset LR Club and one of the four...
