Don't give up hope find a way to turn engine manually . see if it seized 70 mph I'd idling for an engine that size . unless of course you have or previous owner has thrashed it to death . check oil to at least see if it has any . if it turns manually is under bonnet by means of a spanner...

It does sound like vcu was seized they handle awful when the are but they do handle and drive better in 4wd with a fully working transmission. You may have managed to save your ird fingers crossed . mine is OK even after having had a seized one when I purchased it . they don't all self destruct...

It sounds like your getting somewhere with this . . have you actually tried putting one jump lead from the earth on the battery and then the other end to a clean metal area on the engine just to make sure you have a confirmed visual earh

Did it fail to start (ie not turn over ) or did it stop and then fail to start . . Have you put it in gear and tried rocking it to see if the engine actually will turn . .if it won't maybe remove the spark plugs and see if water had made its way into one of the cylinders . all things are possible
