Cruise Control - Guzzler or not?

I have to agree... here in the outback, on flat roads, much more fuel effecient, but further south where it starts to get hilly, even the slightest hill will have my V8 auto kick down a gear and accelerate to maintain speed. This is most un-nerving when you are approaching a narrow crest of a...

Crunching 2nd gear and no heat

1st to 2nd changing in any gearbox is usually the one that has problems with the synchro ring. Changing 1 to 2 should be a two stage shift with that slight pause in the neutral section, then gentle pressure into 2nd, this will give time for revs to drop and teeth to align.

By the correct conjugation of the verb "to be", that should read "should HAVE been" not "should OF been" :D :D :D :D

Good MPG is possible with a petrol 4.0 litre

Wolf...you and I discussed this before, but I am curious about the snorkel. In high speed running the funnel at the top might assist with a little forced air induction but cant see it making that much difference. I would have thought the headers and exhaust would have made the most impact...

    Yella Fella Toast from 100-poster

Gday Yella Its been a long time coming, but way back on post number 20-something, you said a bloke had to have 100 posts before he was allowed to have a go at someone, and I know this is number 99 and all, but I just cant have a go at a bloke that owns a yellow 4WD....I think he has suffered...

    Wheres me tools?

When I first went to use the jack that is stored under the bonnet, I found it in a pool of oil and not operating. Still under warrenty, I spoke to the dealer who was happy to replace it with a $10 cheap taiwanese jack that looked like it would hold up my wilted John Thomas. I bought a heavier...

    Discovery 3 problem solved?

I had the pleasure of seeing a D3 up close the other day when a guy on his way through town stayed with us. Him and his mates in their tojos had just come through the kimberly mountains and the D3 was the main vehicle that had to save/rescue/support all the others. I got a good look around the...

    Bumper tail lights?????

OK..I have had a play with stuff under the back and my car bears no resemblance to what's in the manual. I have to dismantle the lamp to get the globes out of the middle and the rear bumper lamps clip into the bumper not screw in. The lamps on the body of the vehicle have two globes at the top...

    Bumper tail lights?????

When a friendly Mr Plod pointed out that one of my brake lights wasn't working, I got to noticing just which lights came on at the back of the vehicle and which didn't. It seems the indicators in the rear bumper work fine, but the red ones next to them dont at all. Are they fog lights? if...

    Manual v Auto

Gday Paul I have a V8 auto, and it depends on what you are towing and where. On the highway, the auto is brilliant, much smoother, but if its over 35c, autos overheat more often than manuals as you have the auto gearbox dumping its heat into the radiator as well. Around town I might lean towards...
