P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

Wammers - agreed and found that out now. Perhaps it would be worth including in the "How to" that the compressor can be made to run even if the thermal switch is faulty. It is in fact a seperate circuit that is an input to the ecu. Anyway my thermal switch appears to be OK and I'm still not any...

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

Datatek- yep thanks for the correction. The results the same though unfortunately, the 2 ohms is just my crap meter it is a proper earth. The odd thing is that the compressor appears to be starting and stopping randomly. Like it comes on for about a minute then goes off for 5 minutes then on for...

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

As said above - I have used the eas unlocker to get her up and I have pulled the relay. Unless I'm not understanding things correctly the fact that the compressor will run at will by using the eas software means the thermal fuse is fine and also the compressor whilst not pristine is giving...

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

Spoke too soon! Worked all day yesterday tried it today and all heights looked normal started her up and she went to access height and stayed there. Once again pumped up using eas unlocker and up she went. I have now removed the delay relay until my manual valves come and I can continue to try...

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

Used the unlock software to run the compressor for 5 mins with doors open. Removed eas unlocker then closed doors and started enginge and up she goes to normal and high position with no problem. However, the compressor is still not running will now check the pressure switch. The pressure switch...

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

Yes, I do have the unlock software and I can run the compressor from this. I dont think the compressor is "giving up" as it doesn't even attempt to start as for as I can tell.

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

Thanks for your reply, but like I said earlier the compressor does run for a few seconds if I remove fuse 44 and then replace it, so does this not mean the thermal fuse is good? The compressor also runs without any problem from the eas unlocker software. I really don't understand why it doesn't...

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

I have been through the "How to" but my situation doesn't seem to fit what it says. The compressor does run manually and create pressure (90 - 100 psi) but doesn't seem to run when the system is in normal use. So, if I start up with the doors open the compressor doesn't even run. I'm happy that...

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

Just used the easunlocker to drain the main pressure vessel and then tried the system again. I was expecting the compressor to run for some time before timing out or overheating. It still didn't run at all or if it did it had stopped by the time I got out of the car and put my hand on the pump...

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

Checked the compressor and it is giving pressure, put a gauge on it and it maxed out at 90psi. I know that isn't enought, so I need a new compressor, but is that enough to stop it rising to normal height? Also, why doesn't the compressor carry on running to try to get the system up to pressure...

P38 stuck in access mode - no fault shown

Hi, my P38 has decided to stay in access mode no matter what I ask it for. The access mode light is permanently on and the height requested flashes for ever. The compressor is NOT running. I have checked that the compressor will run by removing the relay under the bonnet and using a piece of...

    Heater Temperature Control

Made some progress, ill share what I did for others. I decided to remove the HEVAC control unit and do the checks on the leads going from connectors C245 and C246b. Here are the details of the pins for the sensors and the readings you should get with a multimeter. Outside air temp C245 pins...

    Heater Temperature Control

Apologies for the delay in responding, other non Land Rover issues interupted me. I assume the sensor is a thermistor, if so I will check it tomorrow. The external temperature seems to display correctly. Does anyone know if I can get the diagnostics output without going to a main dealer ie...

    Heater Temperature Control

as above....I have checked that the cabin heat sensor fan is running and fluff free. Anyone any idea what I should check next?

    Heater Temperature Control

There is no book display and as I said, if the heater is set to just 16 the temp in the car goes way beyond comfortable i.e. well over 22 and I then either have to open the windows or set the temp to LOW and then it goes cold very quickly.

    Heater Temperature Control

Hi, Have searched the forums but can't find anything the same as my heater problem. If I have the heater on 22 both sides the temperature keeps on going up so eventually you have to open the windows! If you lower the temperature the fan speed seems to slow down, but the air coming out of the...

    Fitting Parking Sensors

If I'd put it there the cable wouldn't have been long enough and I'd didn't want to extend it. I'll see if I get on with it where it is and if not I'll try your idea - thanks.

    Fitting Parking Sensors

Thought I'd post my experience of fitting one of the e-bay parking sensor kits on my P38. The display unit that has a sounder, a distance display and a L / R indicator was put on the top of the steering column cover. This isnt perfect as the steering wheel blocks the distance display when your...

    Mysterious pipe?

Showed the bit of pipe to a friend who works in the parts department of Stratstones and he hasn't got a clue either. I guess I'll have to do crawl around a bit more and see what I can find.
