What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Sprayed my rear brake mud-guards because I couldn't get them off to do it.

Front Brake Caliper refurbishment on my TD5

Further progress on the 90 at the weekend on replacing the brake discs. Took the opportunity to get the wire brush to the wheel hub to clear off as much crud as I could while I was at it. Got the passenger side front and rear all back together and on.

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

I was making progress yesterday on my brake disc refurbishment. Replacing the copper brake pipe on the left side as I had to cut it off to get the caliper off as the fitting was seized.

    Swivel Housing Filler plug size

The spanner won't work because it's a female recessed plug, not male. So you are saying just shove a 1/2 inch socket into the hole. :)

    Swivel Housing Filler plug size

Morning, My 2005 TD5 has one filler plug in the front swivel housings, which I need to undo and top up with one-shot grease, but I wanted to check with you guys because I keep reading that the filler plug is a 1/2 female square plug, but is there a special tool for it, or do I just shove in a...

Brake Disc replacement on my 90.

Question, brake copper pipe to brake caliper brass fittings, are they going to be the 11mm I think, or is it come sneaky imperial size.?

Brake Disc replacement on my 90.

Kentish Threshing Barn, circa 1741. And I went with a cut old race to use as a tool to press the new races in.

Brake Disc replacement on my 90.

I made a little more progress at the weekend with replacing the discs on the Landy, this time moving to the rear to get those started and see what state the rear brake capilers were in. Managed to get the back end up on axel stands so now it's not going anywhere. The rear disc's weren't quite...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

On Saturday I removed the corroded pistons from one of my front calipers ahead of replacing them. Note to self for the future : when using compressed air to pop the first one out, get your fingers out of the way :)

Front Brake Caliper refurbishment on my TD5

Like the trick of smoothing the edge of the retaining ring, will try and see what happens. I haven't split the caliper itself, I understand that might help with access.

Front Brake Caliper refurbishment on my TD5

One of them yes, I got one piston in of the side that looks fresh, and one piston in on the side that looks a bit beaten up, so it just seems pot luck.

Front Brake Caliper refurbishment on my TD5

But I got through 4 more of the metal retailer rings that just would go in squarely and would buckle or catch and would then need to be binned. I though it might be because of the one side of the caliper that didn't have them in before, but I got one in that side and one in the side that did...

Front Brake Caliper refurbishment on my TD5

New replacement piston kit then to go in, it was HELL to get the retaining ring to seat properly or squarely when trying to push it in. I got one in ok, and the piston in ok and the one opposite it.

Front Brake Caliper refurbishment on my TD5

Decided to paint them red, just because.

Front Brake Caliper refurbishment on my TD5

Following on from some of my other posts I thought I'd put the brake caliper picks all in one place for ease when I want to circle back and read the comments in the future. My 2005 TD5 brake disc and caliper refurbishment is taking my ages because of lack of time. New vented discs and wheel...

    Wheel bearing spacers?

Just picking up on this very old through, How do I find out what the correct width spacer would be for my Defender 2005 TD5? I replaced the drivers side bearings and it had the spacer and one hub nut to do it all up. But on doing the passenger side there is a two nut set up, and no spacer...
