fitting LR dog guard to P38

i have the plastic brackets (as shown attached to the guard in your picture) on the top side (roof side) they have two screws that must screw into the roof. i can't feel any holes for them to screw into though. my brackets look just like yours except that there must be some part of your brackets...

fitting LR dog guard to P38

thanks for the photo John. i've had a look and i can't see or feel any holes behind the roof lining. i think i might have to try and remove some of the lining to see behind. it looks like the plastic brackets themselves also protrude some way through the lining.

    honest mpg

LTEL, what chip do you recommend? there appear to be a few on the market. someone on the forum last week said that when BMW 'gave' the 2.5 engine to landrover, they downrated it by fitting a 'lesser' chip. do you know if there is any truth in this? perhaps i need to find a BMW chip. the...

fitting LR dog guard to P38

Does anyone know how to fit a dog guard to a P38. i have the brackets and it looks like they might fix to the roof but i cant see any fixings in the roof to attach them to. i don't want to destroy the roof lining or worse still, the roof. thanks

    warranty advice please

If you're considering an independant inspection, definately get a local LR expert to check it out. i bought a 2001 dhse recently and got the AA to do a full inspection. Turned out, the AA contracted it out to some other cowboys who didn't even spot that the spare tyre was holed and the drivers...

    pine needles in air inlets

Alfie, Many thanks for the info. thats a great link. Looks like i need to do this soon. i hope to report back on how i got on. perhaps if i cut a piece of wire 'gauze type material' to fit behind the foam it may help to stop crud 'cutting' through the foam and into the inlet? - any thoughts on...

    pine needles in air inlets

hi. my p38 is parked overnight under pine trees. recently lots of pine needles and other small tree bits have been falling on the winscreen and then falling down into what looks like the air con/ventilation inlets. (there used to be a sort of foam filter but i think it has been torn up by the...

    hello from burton on trent

i recently had a discussion with a local independant LR specialist (North East 4x4 in Banchory). i had recently bought a DHSE and was asking about the horror stories of p38's. They said that the petrol models were very problematic and tricky to work on and that the diesel p38's were much better...

replacing pads and discs on p38

thanks for the advice clutchdust. i was hoping to get away with using a g-clamp though on some cars (my peugeot 306) you have to turn the pistons and push them in at the same time. good advice about the pad binding. that sounds quite likely what has happened to mine - i will investigate this...

replacing pads and discs on p38

i need to change the front and rear pads and discs on my 2001 p38. the manual i have downloaded mentions a LR service tool used to push the pistons back into the calipers. does anyone know if this is really required or can it be done without the service tool? Also, is there anything else to look...

    holland & holland for sale

its not me selling it and i have no idea of the value of H&H editions. i was under the impression they were rare and hence valuable and sought after. In any case, a vehicle is always worth what an inividual is prepared to pay. Be that 11 grand or 11 quid!

i bought a 2001 2.5 DHSE last month. i paid 13 grand which i thought was top book price but it did have all the toys - sat nav, rear park sensors, colour coded body kit (vogue spec) electric everything. it had done 62k miles.

statistic ! what makes you own a range rover ?

no other vehicle has such road presence. other 4 x 4 manufacturers try to copy the range rover, but don't manage to create that panache and style. (even if some are slightly more reliable) it seems as well that over recent years, land rover are trying to make the latest freelanders and...
