    Series 3 kangarooing up hills!

Popped the top off the carb. Cleaned the jets i had access to. Some rusty bits in the bottom of the float chamber but look to be sat happily in the recessed bit. My question is how much fuel there should be in the float chamber? I'd just had it running for a few mins but when i stopped it...

    Zenith carb repair kit?

Not too happy with my Weber. Blocked jets and hard to set up plus a loss in power. Tempted to swap back to zenith since i heard new ones can be had for £60?

    Series 3 kangarooing up hills!

Cheers guys, I'll be tackling it again in the morning. Was hoping to pop the top off the carb and see what it look like in there to give an idea as to the cleanliness of the fuel system. I'll let you know how i get on! Gotta go and tax the car aswell tomorrow if i can drag myself away...

    Engine cuts out

Interesting read. It mentioned the twin weber has easily accessible jets. Does the 34ICH aswell? I need to try and clean mine tomorrow to see if it gets to the bottom of my 'kangarooing-under-load' issue. It seems these carbs are prone to it! I hope its not the fuel passages that have blocked!

    Series 3 kangarooing up hills!

Cheers for the info. Today i've got abit further with it. We found the fuel pump not to be working properley. Seems some junk from the tank had got into the valve. Swapped pump but problem is still there (event though i'm now supplying the right fuel pressure) There is no gorze (sp?)...

    Series 3 kangarooing up hills!

Cheers for the info guys. It only seems to do it up hills. If i put it under load on a straight its fine! I think it must be fuel related. Will check the Carb and where it mounts to the inlet (it does ice up around there, but is that normal?) Off the top of my head i'm not sure what the...

    Series 3 kangarooing up hills!

Hi guys, My series 3 2.25 '5 bearing petrol' with weber carb and standard 'oil' air filter has developed a kangarooing when going up hills. Last weekend i changed the plugs, HT leads, condensor, Dizzy cap and rotor which has made her run alot better until the kangarooing appears that is...

    Series 3 Winch recommendations?

    Series 3 Diff lock?

Ok thanks for the advice. I would have liked to have tried it if it was a cheap option but its not so i'll stick with what i've got! I'd say i do extreme green laning and often get stuck trying to climb super wet grassy hills!

    Series 3 Diff lock?

Ok thanks for the info. That's anwered it then. I need to lock each axle to get all 4 wheels turning to gether and the best traction. I think those airlockers are expensive though! How much better are those systems you describe above at generating traction? What do the later Defenders and...

    Tyres

I think you're right, they do look remarkably similar to the Goodyear ones. Yes, damn loud - but i like that on a landy as you know its on 'off-road' tyres and therefore means business!!

    Series 3 Winch recommendations?

Cheers for the info Will look for a series winch bumper then - can't say i've seen any though! I only want a cheap winch (like the Brit part ones in Paddocks?) assuming it can do the job of pulling me out if necessary

    Series 3 Diff lock?

How easy and costly is it to fit the necessary components to enable diff-lock or similar to allow all wheels to turn together?

    Tyres

Mine is on Deestones too. They are well hard to find! I managed to get 2 from someones un-used landy at a farm (just asked him for them - gave him a tenna!) They seem good but aren't very good on the road in the wet! Make sure they are on correctly too - i didn't realise they were directional!

    Series 3 Winch recommendations?

Hi all, I have a 1980 Series 3 and would like a winch for it. Can anyone recommend a relatively cheap one that will pull the weight of the vehicle and that is easy to fit? Paddocks do a few but they aren't designed for series 3's? Thanks Ian

Based in notts. Have they gone to the trouble of putting signs up and physically closing those lanes you mention then?
