i need to make a decision!!!

I'm not convinced by the whole coscast thing. Better tolerances or not, its still an engine with a fundamental design fault. I'd be going top-hats www.westwoodtrading.co.uk/

    Surrey greenlanes?

The BECM computer thingy is underneath the drivers seats so you have to make sure water don't get inside! steam cleaning the carpets gives a P38 BSE...

    Manual > electric window conversion

hit thanks, I'll go for it if I can be sure the wiring into the door is already there, otherwise I can imagine it'd be a bit of a nightmare

    bad weather sports car =

not that one, its galvanised! my neighbour had a v12 for a weekend from some car club thingy- stuck 50 quid in the tank and it was gone the same afternoon... my landy ain't exactly frugal but this was freaking scary!

    what do you reckon?

cam/chain/tappets & change all the oils... you won't believe the difference. It ain't the mileage on the RV8 but how often its been serviced. Had a 3.9 classic on 194,000 which ran miles smoother than the 114 P38 4.0 Engine on the RRC felt like it had another 200k to give... shame the rust had...

    Manual > electric window conversion

My passenger window has broken so I'm thinking about converting them both to electric while I'm at it... anyone else attempted it? Before I go pulling the door cards off does anyone know if the wiring will already be there? I've seen kits like this Electric Window Conversion Kit for 2...

Advice on buying a Range Rover

There was a guy on ebay advertising to do them for 300 quid inc the parts and I heard good things about his work, not sure if he's still on there. Do the servicing yourself, no more difficult than any other car... in fact easier, 'cos you've got loads of room underneath (changing plugs is a...

Do P38's even have head gaskets?

Nothing wrong with that, the V6's are great cars. On the subject, we were worried about a **** load of mayo under the oil cap when my dad bought his 2.5CDX but it was all gone by the time we got it home & still never reappeared 2yrs later- must have just been used for short journeys. Wouldn't...

    Decals. Yey or Nay?

me like dodgy graphics. They can be quite useful too- my discos got compasses on the doors so if I get lost I can just hop out and see which direction I need to go.

    Buying advice on 1995 to 1999 RR's

no logic with my landys! :D A p38 is a gamble if you're on a tight budget that's all. Most old un's will be on their 3-5 owner (most can't afford to look after them properly) and all will be in need of a some putting right- you need to set aside at least 2.5k for a 2k car. And we're talking...

    Buying advice on 1995 to 1999 RR's

Rust ain't an issue on p38's- bit of bubbling at the bottom of the lower tailgate & some white dusty bits where alloy meets steel on high milers. Zillions of threads on 'em. I'd get a Vogue SE classic or a 3.9 ES disco if I were you ;)

    Renewing the Camshaft 4.0 V8

They conclude it needs a new engine based on a phone call??!!! Pop over to the V8 forum- v8forum.co.uk there are real RV8 boffs over there! Even if it were that (which I still doubt) I'd be wanting a top hatted block from v8d, turners etc

I must be the only one who prefers the 200 front?

    Which engine, 4.6 or 4.0???????

... but apparently the extra power makes the early 4.6's labour in some gears under load- more chance of liner slipping! I've had both & the difference is tiny. I prefer the SE spec- everything I wanted was there but less pointless gizmos to go wrong (electric seats etc).

Look and Listen to my v8 monster.

Well that worked out alright! Double S called yesterday saying theres a problem making the system I ordered but I can have the 295 quid one with centre silencer for the same price (189 delivered). Got it today & fitted like a glove. Nice one. Was a bit worried about it droning without the...

    Moment of Madness......

I bought a green k-reg 3.9 off a pub landlord for 250 quid a few months back for no other reason than why not! It had 10 months MOT... which mean the entire sills, rear crossmember, inner wings and boot floor had completely rotted through within 2 months! :D Sold it on ebay a few weeks...

Had any bad experience with Lancaster Insurance?

Co-op were brilliant fighting a dodgy claim I had made against my mondeo (long story)... thought I was going to be absolutely ass-raped. Quote they gave me for my disco was near double what its worth though!
