    Finally got another Land Rover!

Sorry if I'm derailing, but what's your bumper?

    Steering setup

A lot of steering feel is down to swivel pin bearing preload, set with shims under the top pin. They variously expand and disintegrate as they corrode. Fairly straightforward, but mind your brake pipes getting the top pin bolts out, and take care not to damage the swivel seal when unloading...

Is this a 1989 Defender or a 1989, 110 (hi cap pick up)?

Built or first registered in 89?

P38A Anyone need any brake fluid...?

If you run out of stock give me a shout, got about the same and another pint in a field around the corner. Bulk discount, naturally ;)

No V5 MOT required to get it?

Will it need a new test if it's been scrapped?

Battery cut off - any tips?

I regularly lose my keys in my pocket. This behaviour is what links Land Rover owners and squirrels ;)

    Filling holes in roof

Araldite should do it if you wire brush the area, or any sealant, or a rubber grommet with an appropriate bolt. Id go for the latter since you never know when it might come in handy. It's all down to how permanent you want it.

    200 to 300 calliper conversion?

Sorry, comment was by way of thanks, not complaint ;)

    200 to 300 calliper conversion?

Does help to have the part number. Everyone's got it, but if you google or ebay it not a sossidge.

    200 to 300 calliper conversion?

Should a 200 have a non return valve? I'm not finding one. Presume it would be in between vac pump and servo. Or is it built into the pipe fitting and sunk into the servo housing? Can't even find a part for it, to be honest. Hoses are fine, went over those when I discovered the heater recirc...

    200 to 300 calliper conversion?

@discool Many thanks for the advice mate, carried out the conversion today, in the rain. Essentially nothing to report, just wanted to say thanks :) Much easier to install and bleed, although I'm not sure what order to do it in. Followed the order given in Haynes for the old dual line system...

Work to be done but is it worth getting done in garage or at home?

+1 start with rocker cover, but it won't won't leak when parked, so unlikely to cure all your ills. Do sump gasket next, as more likely than ladder seal, and much easier, requiring oil drain but not gearbox removal. Do oil pump while drained, chances are that's the only real issue. Where it sits...

It'll be the ladder frame. And the extra cash will be for training a raw idiot in the highly technical art of bolt-undoing

Pulsating sound between 45 and 52

Could be as simple as halfshaft seal. Original is pretty solid, you can get a used axle on ebay for not much with a half ton of misc spares. Inspect before buying, obv.

Pulsating sound between 45 and 52

Seems to me the one thing you haven't listed is halfshafts/CVs, and symptom sounds like halfshaft wobble. Fairly easy to pull, but greasy job.

    200 to 300 calliper conversion?

But when one of the lines went I had nothing, so the system just doesn't work? Note not a fault with the master since the brakes locked up as expected with various combinations of old/new tires.

    200 to 300 calliper conversion?

Doesn't entirely make sense that you would.

    200 to 300 calliper conversion?

@discool, any reason why fronts go on the secondary circuit? This has moved up now, so I need to know what I'm doing.
