Yeah, DPF is a very particular thing. It's in the exhaust system. EGR is completely seperate.

A dpf is another filter. Designed to take the carbon and other bits from the exhaust gasses and retain them. Your engine will occasionally inject extra fuel to up the exhaust gas temperature to effectively burn down the build up. This is often done on motorways etc. The dpf is by its design...
