    Wheel Nuts...

Interestingly, I saw an old series III on sale at John Craddocks last week with two or three threads visible in the wheel nuts. These were the nuts that are chamfered on both faces like the GPO used to have fitted to their Land Rovers, presumably to prevent a careless grease monkey from fitting...

    easily removable doors

Most of us are looking to make it harder to remove the doors ( and bonnet ) as they are expensive to replace when stolen !

    VIN number woes

Why don't you check with Land Rover Heritage at Gaydon ? For a reasonable fee they will be able to tell you what the spec of the vehicle was when it was built, and serial numbers of all the major units. If the Vin number stamped on the chassis looks as if it's not been tampered with and it...

    First ever MOT fail!

My Peugeot failed it's M.O.T. last year at a Halfords M.O.T, station. The tester gave the same advice and sold me an additive that is stocked by Halfords, seem to recall it cost about twelve quid. Added it to the fuel tank and booted the car up and down the nearest bypass four or five times...

    Tools for the job !

One of my Halfords sockets ( 19mm I think ) split so I took it back, They replaced it even though I had not got the receipt, and it was a few years old. Must start to keep my tool receipts though.

    New seats & anderson leads.

Quick question. How do you go on with the M.O.T. with your registration plate not being reflective and incorrect spacing of the digits ?

Seen a Landy for sale with an observation hatch in the roof, any ideas?

These hatches would not be seen on vehicles still on the production assembly line but Land Rover has a department called Special Vehicle Operations that could handle it easily. Could be a good mod for Ed China of Wheeler Dealers, if you have seen him driving a sports car you will know what I...

    Defender Security

Maybe the garage was not included in the house alarm circuit, especially if the garage was not part of the house structure. Or possibly he might have simply forgotten to set the alarm when going to bed.

I have bought a set of special sockets that remove stripped nuts and bolts from Machine Mart, they really do the job

    Security Devices

IF... you could get any to fit and then fitted them, I doubt if they would be strong enough to take the strain of acceleration and braking. Might be better to fit the correct bolts and nuts then use a slightly bigger ring spanner to wipe off the sharp corners of the hexagons on the nuts then...

    Security Devices

Would take them more than 40 minutes. They must be careful not to make noise with their tools. They stop working and prepare to run away every time a vehicle goes by or when the wind blows the nearby bushes. They are almost ****ting themselves at the slightest sound. Could be nearer an hour...

    Security Devices

So 20 minutes for one prop.... that's 40 minutes for two props. And did you not have to roll back a little to get to the awkward bolts ?

    Security Devices

Like to see you unbolting props in the dark. Sixteen very tight bolts with nylock nuts and the ones that you can't get at properly because of the angles that the U/J's are resting at. You need to roll the vehicle a little way to bring those bolts round to where you can grip them.

Series III doors for a 110?

Probably will need to swap the door latches over..... or if still feeling idle try and get the Series III striker plates.

    part number help

Hello daddy2coull. I want some as well. Recently tried to buy some from my local Land Rover franchised dealer, but found out that they are not available seperately. You have to buy the complete wheel boxes to get them. I'm thinking of fitting a couple of O rings in place of each seal.

Thanks for the idea Dippy. It's brilliantly simple, effective and cheap. Anyone can do this if they take the trouble to.

Any chance you could send your post to the defender2net, there's loads of Puma owners read the post every day.
