yeah , the only experience I have with series boxes is that they cant handle anything more than the 2.25. Not sure if th box is even mounted in the right place but it seems about right, just a little high up. Ill drop the engine in and see how things line up

yeah engine will have to be moved forward little from old mounts, looks like it all measures up okay. The chassis is a chopped disco chassis to 90 inch. the The prop shaft is about 18 inches, it only fits when fully compressed in though, so might have to shorten it a fraction.

Rear prop from original vehicle fits just right, from from from disco fits just right. gearbox has the short bell housing!

funny he was £185 for it. maybe if he stripped it cleaned and polished the block he might get £150 haha, some proper gypos on ebay these days.

No I have a defender gear box with the short housing. I am using the mounts for the box from the disco they unbolt. The front grill is from a defender to I have the extra space upfront. The standard prop that is on there just about fits, might get a slightly shorter one just to be safe...

yeah , got a new borg clutch kit, will buy a new clutch slave and rod.

not a bad idea, fly wheel and housing has to come off so I can tap the bolts on the bottom.

Just bought a Disco from Uncle Albert on here, it has a 200tdi. I have got the gearbox from a defender mounted in place on the chassis, what should I do to the engine whilst it is out of the discovery. Timing belt was done 40k miles ago so I know that needs doing, and also the flywheel housing...

Collected the defender gearbox with the short bell housing, will bet it cleaned up change fluids and fit onto the transit engine for now. can always get the 200tdi in at a later date.

no just buying one straight out of a 90 , can always rebuild at a later date. looking forward to having some more power now!

Yeah that is a good point, although unfortunately I am up against it with time, I am off to Australia soon , so I think buying one might be quick due to little experience of gear boxes

Have axles from a Disco in anyway so they will handle it. seen a couple of short lt 77 gear boxes , I can sell the disco one to cover part of the cost too. Cheers for the Advice!!
