    Help! Fire! Fire!

I'm guessing a leak as I've got a bleed nipple on the fds caliper that needs replacing (was planned for today, before the landy took up smoking!) and i think its leaking slightly so it would make sense.

    Help! Fire! Fire!

well the way it now stands is this: the wire for the cig lighter is there and in but the cig lighter also caught fire, so i'm now trawling fleabay for one. The cb and torch will not be refitted to that circuit i'm going to install a separate fuse box for everything i now add. However another...

    Help! Fire! Fire!

Ok so i've found the wire from the cig lighter burned all the way back to the fuse board, so i'm assuming i had it overloaded with the cb and rechargable torch. can anyone confirm that the sockwet i've just removed from the bottom of the fuse box back is the only wire to the cig lighter and that...

    Help! Fire! Fire!

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than destroying some little s.o.b who sold me the part, but unfortunately, I think it is one of the fuses from a pack i found at work, so i have no idea where they came from or who sold them. They are cheap fuses though, as they are made from luminous...

    Help! Fire! Fire!

Oh yeah i realise that and I'm going to look for the issue, but if the fuse had popped, I wouldn't have had the fire, just some minor short. So far checked all the other electrical systems, and can't find any other issues, so hopefully its just damaged the cig wiring.

    Help! Fire! Fire!

Just set light to my landy, and its not even a freelander! Finished doing the oil change, just running the engine to make sure its happy, glanced at the cab to plumes of thick smoke billowing out of it!:eek::eek: Quickly realised it must be an electrical fault as the smoke was coming out...

    Alternator refurb

No I got to be honest, I'm identifying it simply from another forums picture. I might just have to bite the bullet and take it off to properly id it, and look at the make up of it.

    Alternator refurb

Ah now that one doesn't look anything like the parts that are on mine, thats why I've steered away from it. But thanks for looking. I don't think there's a kit for mine on ebay.

    Alternator refurb

Ok cool thanks, but I was wanting to refurb the whole thing with new bearing etc. Seen kits for other alternators, just not this one. If all else fails I could just replace the voltage regulator. Thanks.

    Alternator refurb

Ok after a lot of research, i've found out my failing alternator is a Margetti Margelli A127 I think. I dont know if its 65a or 100a, but thats irrelevant. What I want to know is if any one has successfully found a refurbishing kit for one? I'd rather repair than replace, so if a kit exists that...

    Strange electrical issue

No one has ever come across this then?

    Strange electrical issue

I don't think it'd be an earth issue on mine, as the turning on of other things wouldn't affect it, would it? Yours sounds more like crossed wires, isn't it?

    Strange electrical issue

Hi, I've had issue with my rev counter flicking for a while now. On looking into it, a flicking needle seems to be symptomatic of a loose rev counter wire on the alternator. I had all those wires off and cleaned the connections, and it seemed to fix for a while. I've recently changed the water...

Heating problems with my Disco 1

Need to park with the engine up hill or on ramps. I find both of mine get air locked in the heater matrix when on the level. get the front up then bleed it, it should clear easy enough

    Zip Line

Thats what I wanted to hear! :) Cheers! As I said I havent got a winch yet, just can't afford one. But I have got an endless hoist that'll lift 2 ton, so in my opinion should pull a good deal more. The wire would go from that to a tree, with a 10ft chain I got between the hoist and disco. I...

    Zip Line

Unfortunately the box bit with the wheels in was stainless, so that had to go for scrap, but the rope is just steel so I could get my greasy fingers on it!
