Bought a re-con unit from ignitioncarparts.co.uk about 18 months ago for £130 inc new coil. Comes with a 2 year warranty and a £25 refund on the old unit. No problems at all so far and it's an easy fit, just one 14mm bolt.

Jobs done now but was that for a standard rad or one like mine with the oil cooler pipes running through it. A standard re-core is around £90, but mine wasn't one of those:mad:.

Bad news about the rad, needed a re-core so the cost inc vat was £222. Installation was easy with the fan removed and so far so good. My mechanic is a bit concerned about the amount of pressure in the top hose, and has advised me to keep checking for air blockages, bubling in the expansion tank...

Must have done a bit of ringing around cos the repair cost is 10% of the new rad. The other issue is that the quote includes collection and return of the rad, can't ask for better than that..

Don't know if it would work, but an old trick used to be put the stereo in the freezer for a day, knackers the chip. Alternatively there are plenty of places around that re-code for a tenner or so. Given up in my case for now, investigating further sodding speaker cones are rotten in the bottom...

What's the sound like though, my question is do I repair an 18 year old system or replace it. I like the idea of a multi changer but I can fit the Alpine for nowt. Spec wise they are about the same 25w per channel, but I've never had a system with an amp, sub woofer etc.

Just open rave-lr.pdf, this gives the first page choose your vehicle from there. Once you have made your selection you can't go back though, so you may end up with a couple of adobe windows open.
