Yes the doors are closed... dropped the window then reached in to start car. Found that one out when the bags were leaking :)

Obviously, I don't expect something for nothing... willing to offer a few beer tokens for any help. Also, willing to help out as an extra pair of hands if anyone else needs help...

Thanks for the advice Spanish Lair... what and where is the valve block? Is that the cylindrical object just to the rear of the compressor which has the pipes going to it or what?

Loads of things on here but nothing that exhibits the same symptoms. Almost all the other threads talk about itngoing down overnight (wish the missus would :)). But this went down in a matter of seconds and won't come up again. Is the noise from the compressor a fault with the compressor...

My disco 2 (1999) has trim along the sills with attached mudflaps... Is it necessary to remove this trim or will the side steps fit around/alongside them?

Had the same problem a couple of weeks ago... someone suggested it was an airlock in the coolant. Bled the system and the problem has gone away.

The aircon unit LCD display on my TD5 lights up when the aircon is switched on but I can't see any of the buttons at night. Can someone tell me if the buttons are supposed to be backlit when I have lights on? Thanks
