Well, it had to happen sooner or later!!

:p:p It better be, it'll be a week before I can lift my arms above my head again:D:D PS True dedication to Range Rover ownership is helping a mate change out a gearbox even though your leg is in a cast:eek::eek: Seanmull, An utter nutter:D:D

Thanks James, I'll send you a PM when I have the box off this evening Cormac

Well, it had to happen sooner or later!!

Update: I went out today to get it ready for transporting to Seanmulls place and I said I'd just try low range manual. No go in D,3,2 but then in 1st I had movement forward! So I then tried it in normal high range and I have the same! When I was stuck on the side of the road I thought I tried...

Final straw, its going now, been nice knowing you all :)

My fan was hitting the stainless steel bracket for the EGR pipe after I removed the fan cowl. Don't believe it was hitting it before I took the cowl off.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later!!

I tried low range and all the gears but no movement forward. Thinking about it now I should have tried low range in manual mode but I reckon Keith is probably right. I must ahve a look on RAVE later. Mind you it would have saved me a 6.5km trip in reverse gear, I got some looks I can tell you:D :D

Well, it had to happen sooner or later!!

I've no issue with the box failing after 153,000 miles. Mine has had a pretty hard life between spending a lot of time off road and towing. And in fairness its given me plenty notice. The shift from 1st to 2nd has been bad for several thousand miles now, I normally lift off to ease the change...

Well, it had to happen sooner or later!!

153,000 miles, at least 83,000 of which I've done with powerbox fitted so while it may hasten gearbox demise it doesn't mean instant death

Well, it had to happen sooner or later!!

Pulling out from a side road today in my DSE auto into traffic, accelerate hard onto the main road, and all of sudden, plenty revs, no forward motion:eek::eek: Car behind brakes, beeps and goes round me as I'm sitting on the side of the road on a blind bend!! Sitting there for a minute...

    Alternative 4x4's

When I was buying my P38 I was very close to plunging for a G-wagen but couldn't get a RHD with a turbodiesel. Again though, like the Amazon, they were double the price of the P38. Talking about it a few weeks ago with Seanmull we concluded that the only thing to replace a P38 is another...

    installing hot start fix

What I heard from some old timers is that pouring water on a diesel pump was a means of diagnosing a pump with worn internals. The logic being that by cooling the pump casing relative to the internals (which would cool at a different rate due to being immersed in diesel) there would be an...

    installing hot start fix

Its not in LRO's interest to advertise a fix that bypasses all its advertisers and costs virtually nothing. I've folllowed the Hot Start issue for years. There are different causes, some is internal wear in the pump resulting in reduced pump pressure (alledgedly partly curable by adding veg...

    no fuel at injectors

Second that, I've a 98MY DSE outside the door that proves it. Donal, in all likelyhood the EDC code (called the EMS code in the BECM) for the BECM is incorrect. If it was me I'd try it first with the original diesel ECU(EDC). At least this one is already coded to the BECM and so you shouldn't...

    Different Tyres Front and Back?

Same as that, got STR's when I couldn't get ST's thinking they'd be fine, they were terrible on the front. I'm running Toyo Opencountry AT's all round now, very happy with them, cheaper than GG AT2's.
