just had my crankshaft pulley done - picking it up tomorrow - still relieved it was that rather than water pump / alternator / or something else more costly.

    Glow plug removal on TD4

My relay was in the e-box (2003 TD4) and the relay iteslf is about 10quid. Your's might be elsewhere, since ive read that they did change the location a few times. As for the glow plugs, got those from a local Czech parts dealer, cost about 24quid in total, made by BM, whoever they are.

    Glow plug removal on TD4

Did this on my TD4 about three weeks ago - it's an easy enough job, no complications like on the older TD engine. All are accessible. Just get a double-depth socket (think its 10mm) and its pretty simple - i took the time to clean up any mating faces too, since there was quite a bit of crap...

Hi, thanks, glad to hear it sounds at least a little reasonable - emailed the chap the link, his reply was that he as no problem with me ordering it myself and him just fitting it. Also said that when he factors in to the price VAT, carriage, and his small mark up, etc then the price is...

    New Freelander Feature - Rattle!

So, its at the indie, managed to drive it there. The report back is that it was: 1 x Crankshaft Pulley 2 x new Belts 1 x Tensioner However, the indie claims the crankshaft pulley is about 9000CZK original (300pounds) - and that he's managed to source a replacement at 5500CZK (195 pounds) is...

    Somethings Not Right!?

To be honest, i expect a car to be able to handle regular daily usage, regardless of journey length. After all, it is there to get me from A to B. If i for a second thought that i would have to think in advance about my trips and where i want to go / choose which i make etc for fear of causing...

    mpg

My TD4 (2003) tends to get around 8 l/100km which is about 35/36MPG when driven normally. With a heavier foot, especially on European motorways, its more 10 l/100km or marginally more.

Ok, will probably try and drive it over tomorrow afternoon in quiet traffic. Hope the power steering / charging doesn't give out for a while like when i was parking it up when the noise got worst :D:D all i need is for the Land Rover Deity to let me get to the garage without the thing falling...

    New Freelander Feature - Rattle!

ok, good to know roughly what im in for :) thanks. So regarding the 40km to the indie garage - can i drive it? what are the risks? The indie wants to see it asap so it can order needed parts, so thought i would try to drive there tomorrow early morning before the rush.....in case anything...

    New Freelander Feature - Rattle!

Thanks for all the info - got it booked in at an independant who also looked at the photos. Question, will this be ok to drive over to him? It's 40km there and getting low-loaded over there is rather expensive. The rattle is pretty bad, loud, but everything is still working - what could...

    New Freelander Feature - Rattle!

Hi, So finally got a chance to take the splash shield of and have a better look + take some pics. So, it seems the belt across the tensioner seems a little loose to me, plus the crankpulley also seems a little..out of shape - any tips on what next chaps? See any other obvious faults? Cant...

Not sure if this is a problem...

:D They are cheap and easy to change, so should be no problem. There are several threads on here with pics e.t.c. Working at the mo so cant track them down, just try a search for intercooler hoses.

Not sure if this is a problem...

yeah...you could ask your mum to teach you to drive properly.... :p OR...check yout intercooler / turbo hoses for small splits....although if you had that, you should notice more smoke out of the back too. There are many threads with these hoses covered and it's a common problem.

    New Freelander Feature - Rattle!

Basically, i really would like to find a way to diagnose the problem as precisely as possible, so i can decide on a course of action - need to find a way to tell what's failing. Also, had a look in rave - seems that to do the idler / alternator its a hydramout off job - is it tricky? (not no...
