just had mine done by local garage, as i didnt have the time to do, charged me £145.! managed to find me a very decent s/hand one.

Sounds similar prob to mine.. knocking on full lock, not using at the mo due to reasons that you suffered, but taking in to garage this week to try to establish what it is.

Mine exactly the same, a 1 inch strip that clears, thats all, so will look for obvious, if not, then replace.

Really not surprised at the speed they are going, bearing in mind public are walking up & down it.

If they all look the same, chances are you have standard, with the shiny chrome caps on, some you can wiggle & appear loose, but chances are you wont get em off,
