    Hello good weather, goodbye prop!

"Dear Prop, Thank you for always being there, transferring power to the rear wheels when needed last week after a brief period of snow. Unfortunately since then the weather has been better and I'm sorry but being around you recently has felt like something of a drag. I think it would be best...

    4wd to 2wd conversion

Hi all, Now that the snow is gone I am looking into removing my prop. I rang a local mechanic for a figure and he said it'd be around £40. Is that a reasonable fee? I'd try it myself but my driveway is a real pain (steep slope). Thanks.

    Cooling Fan - V6...

Thanks for that - I checked the coolant level this morning and everything was fine - no loss at all and there were no issues at all today so perhaps it was just me being a bit paranoid ;-) Andy.

    Cooling Fan - V6...

Hi all, This evening I was stuck in a traffic jam for quite a long time (ambient temperature about 5 degrees). I noticed that the cooling fan kicked in a couple of times. The temperature gauge didn't go above normal and there were no strange noises or anything at all. Later whilst driving back...

    It's snowing ;-) ;-)

Well... No sooner had it arrived than it disappeared again! It was fun while it lasted though. Time to think about removing my prop until November. Andy.

    No go freelander

Just a thought... Are you trying to start it in Park? Perhaps pop it into neutral and try to start it. Andy.

    It's snowing ;-) ;-)

You should go easy on owners of those other 4 wheel drives here - they might get annoyed... Although on the other hand - they won't be reading this thread anyway, they'll be too busy standing at the roadside hoping that a Freelander may pass by and stop to help them out ;-)

    It's snowing ;-) ;-)

That pretty much says it all really ;-)

    It's snowing ;-) ;-)

I'll give you my phone number so that when you get stuck I can tow you out - assuming of course that the snow hasn't rotted your vehicle away completely that is ;-) Andy.

    Big Coolant Leak

Hi, Did you have a good mix of coolant in there? I'm just wondering whether it may have frozen up. Andy.

    4wd to 2wd conversion

Hi Bradh, I'm planning to do the same to mine however snow is forecast over the weekend so it may be worth your dad waiting a few weeks before he has it done just in case. Andy.

how many miles per full tank

Hi all, Just for comparison - I have a 2002 V6 auto. I have been monitoring my fuel consumption and I get around 260 miles per brim fill. This would be from around 75% local roads (up to 40mph) and 25% motorway (65mph) with no passengers, prop shafts etc fitted and driving in a sedentary manner...

    Good positive things about freelanders....

I bought mine (V6 auto) a few months ago for the winter season (we live at the top of a long, winding and steep hill which has left me caught out during each of the last three winters). Unfortunately there hasn't been the slightest hint of snow around the West midlands so I haven't had the...

    Bike Rack

Hmmm... Thus far I have been removing front wheels and seat posts then putting the bikes in the back with the rear seats down. Do you happen to have any photos that you can post? Also... Does the £50 include postage? Andy.

    Just passed my MOT ;-)

Hi all, It was coming to that time when the MOT needed to be done so as I was having a power steering pipe replaced, I asked the garage to put it through the MOT and waited anxiously for the news. The bad news was that it failed however the good news was that it was only on a track rod end...

    burning smell

Hi, I'd suggest checking a few things... 1) Can you see oil anywhere where it shouldn't be? (If you have oil leaking onto anything that gets hot it could produce a burning smell) 2) Crawl underneath and check that you haven't done what my wife did in her car a while back... She had parked at a...

    Sticky brake....?

Just a quick update... It's all fixed now. A local garage did it at a cost of £65 which included a new set of pads. I'm not against doing some work myself but when it comes to something where the function is an essential safety feature, I'd rather spend the money and have peace of mind that...

    Power Steering woes - HELP!

Just an update... One of the rigid pipes for the power steering had corroded and needed replacement. Land Rover supplied the part at £48 inc VAT. I had it fitted by the local mechanic who also put the freebie through it's MOT. It failed on a track rod end and had an advisory for centre and rear...
