    balljoints

Fair point I s'pose. But if I use an old chestnut that'd probably work then?

    balljoints

One other question... If I bite the bullet and decide to do these myself, RAVE recommends a special tool which I obviously won't go for but will an old fashioned ball joint extractor, the sort with a V at one end and a flat for a hammer at the other, do the job?

air - coil springs; what's the MOT case?

Mine is on springs but they don't have MOT's here. A completely useless post probably but worth a gloat : )

    EAS Manual Module Location

Funny you should mention this but I am considering the same thing but in the meanwhile I was doing some other stuff inside when I lost a screw from the centre console so I had to remove the shroud around the bottom of the drivers seat to look for it (behind which is the BECM and driver's seat...

Just a quick (probably daft) question

ebay - good idea... only problem is, the first one I looked at does have different bump stops and similar to the one I lost. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RANGE-ROVER-P38-AIR-COIL-SPRING-CONVERSION-HD-1-/370462935459?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item56414fc9a3 also, this one...

Just a quick (probably daft) question

My P38 was converted to springs before I got it. I am considering refitting air springs but in the meantime I have lost a bump stop! (it has a tendency to hit the bump stops on a regular basis on severe speed bumps - another good reason to revert to air springs). What I need to know is, would...

    balljoints

There isn't a separate dustcover for the balljoint - its the rubber bit to the left in this picture that has split - does this mean that its just a matter of time before it fails due to the ingress of dirt?

    balljoints

While we are on the subject of balljoints... I just did a check round mine and the rubber around the lower balljoint (os) has split and is coming away. Does this mean I need new balljoints (now or are they on the way out) or is there some vibration/steering slack or other dramatic sign that they...

Microcat...... I know that old chestnut!

@mattstevenson2005: Will Microcat work on a Mac and if so can you tell me how?

£820 per year tax/40p per litre fuel. Doesn't pay to keep it idle gotta keep driving : )

    P38 Coil Springs to Air

Thanks for that; I just checked the compressor, it seems ok. I'll have a look at the height sensors next. I did a search on here but couldn't find anything; I'll go back and look harder!:)

    P38 Coil Springs to Air

I bought my P38 after it had been converted to coil springs and I am considering reconverting it to air springs. I am a little out in the wilds in terms of parts and expert assistance and this is our only form of transportation so I am worried that if I embark on this project I might get left...

Colour blind P38 owners need not reply

The landrovers.net article is very helpful, particularly in describing how to take the centre console out to start with. The 'wedge' bulb for the Auto button on the HEVAC (and cigarette lighter) is part no.RTC3635. The other white bulbs in the HEVAC are STC3868 which also does the clock. I...

Colour blind P38 owners need not reply

I want to re-illuminate my fascia switch bank as some of the symbols on the switches don't seem to illuminate. The colours (green or orange when the switch is turned on) are fine but how is the symbol on each switch illuminated? e.g. fog lamps. Is it part of the switch itself or is there a bulb...

    P38 transfer issues

I had problems with mine for ages and only fixed it when I painstakingly went through every wire and connection inside and under the car to check for tightness and damage. I traced the fault to one earth wire in the wiring connector block into the transfer ECU which had worked loose over time...
