easiest thing to try is remove panel behind o/s/r seat, this will expose the RF receiver, theres 2 plugs going to it, remove the one with a single wire and leave it removed, this is the aerial, then refit panel. Its a 20 second job. with the aerial disconnected if the problem is outside RF...

No! the new unit dont work on another frequency, its just more finely tuned to the right frequency, all the other things that are on 433mh tend to interfere with the crappy old reciever that wasnt designed to be that picky! also theres probaly 1000's of different individual frequencies within...

i would suspect the switch pack it self if all else is working fine....... be nice if you can find a known good one to try?

At £250 for a full service im suprised you hung around long enough even to ask!! Some places seem to charge crazy amounts for a service if its on anything other than a Ford Focus! i was quoted near on £500 in 2003 for a service on my old 3.9 classic!
