This is all 200tdi vs TD5 vs TDCI engines... what about the 300tdi? Where does that fit into the discussion! And the R380 gearbox! After going from an old 2.5 petrol with an LT77, the 300tdi is really nice. It can go up hills.

My whole 90 is for sale which comes with the 2.5 petrol engine! :D A mere £1,500 and it will come with an MOT until 6th March 2015. Plenty of time to drive it home. Bargain!

I know I am a bit late to the party, but have you tested the starter motor? I had a similar problem, towed it to the garage and a new starter motor did the trick. And while it was there, I got them to tear out the immobiliser.... horrible things!

I'm currently having my immobiliser taken out, it is so annoying and I think its causing a lot of electrical problems. If you are having one, get it done properly. Cheapy ones are bad. I like having a battery breaker that I can take out. It works on my 90 but its obvious and easy to get around...

I am terrible with electrics, and have searched around for similar problems and have a few ideas but I'm not sure. Bear with me :confused: I have a wonderful 300tdi, runs nicely and so on, and I haven't had any problems with the electrics until now. The symptoms: The headlights flicker...

Yes well... erm... reasons. Next time I'll be there! And I'll travel further than normal as I do more than 12mpg now. I think I'm about set for some green lanes and off roading too, a couple of kinks to sort out over the next week or so (new battery, reconnect the transfer linkage)
