Anyone have the part number for the accelerator cable? While wiring up the winch I dropped the live onto the chassis and my accelerator cable spontaneously combusted!!!

I have a standard 540CCA battery fitted to mine. Starts without problem regardless of how long it is stood. Runs the winch and all the accessories. It was fitted 5 years ago by the RAF. Ex MOD 90. I would think your battery is shagged rather than not being powerful enough.

It's a 94. I will probably drop the oil anyway and replace it with a mix of EP and the oil stabiliser I run in the diffs. I found that part number from yours. Ordered a couple of Viton seals.

James, do I need to drop the transfer box oil to change the seal? Should I fit OEM or is a 3rd party one ok?

I always leave mine in gear. I have no choice as the parking brake does not work..... :):) It's hill starts I need it for, my drive is quite steep and when off road in Wales it is a nightmare trying to pull off!!

Yes my oil seal has gone. The shoes are not contaminated at the moment, its just the brake won't hold on steep slopes. I am going to adjust it again this morning. It had new shoes about 500m ago.

My handbrake is terrible. New shoes and it does not last many miles before giving up the ghost. I have a steep drive and have to use chocks! I have been looking at the X-brake disk conversion for the handbrake. Has anyone any experience of this? Looks like an ideal solution for me...

I would say no. I would not make any mention of it unless you are thinking of jacking the value up because of it. It is a bog standard chassis with no modifications. Protective coatings are not classed as a modification.

I dropped a 200 directly into my 2.5 without any modification. Just has to replace the radiator and air box. Also used the PAS.

There are plenty of 200/300 engines kicking around. I picked upa Defender 200 engine from eBay. Runs like a sewing machine.
