    Transfer box oil in gearbox

ATF is also a very thin oil, only slightly thicker than water, whereas gear oil is really viscous like treacle.

K reg 110 200tdi fuse box confusion! Please Help!

That's not front flash, that's rear fog light. It would be a good idea to make sure the lights are not full of water. As jason says, you're looking for shorts. Is there any particular time that the fuse goes? E.g. Everytime you sound the horn, or use the interior light etc?

Fuel guage mis reading & fuel tank capacity

Pretty sure the hand book will tell you things like the size of the tank. When i get fuel i always fill it right up till the pump stops itself. I always write down on the receipt the mileage on the resettable milometer thingy, and then reset it to zero for the next time. This allows me to work...

Wading Kit in a V8 Defender

I don't know anything about your engine and gearbox im afraid, but on the diesels it's not a breather in the bell housing, it's a plug in the hole at the bottom.

    Trailer Towing Lessons

Oh its not that. TBH the reversing stuff really isn't difficult. Apparently on the test, they are looking for a number of specific mirror checks and the order in which you do things. For example, turning right on a roundabout requires a minimum of three left hand mirror checks at specific...

EC changes to the regs about modified vehicles

I dunno. Parliament has done some pretty stupid things at times on its own, sometimes with devistating effect to various markets and the economy. Take the LEZ for example, the number of small businesses that are now out of business because they can't afford to replace their vans with post 2002...

    Trailer Towing Lessons

I'm currently doing trailer lessons. TBH, if you only want to tow a small trailer there really isnt much to it. I have a small 5ft x 4ft trailer that I use occassionally. Its narrower than the Landy so much of the lane positioning that you need to think about to pass the trailer test doesn't...

Another Fuel sender wiring question. sorry

Your Landy is a bit older than mine and I only have slightly more recent wiring diagrams, however the colours and cable route is probably the same even if the connectors are different. All solid blacks should be earth. The green with black trace is the fuel signal wire. The bit I'm ever so...

Another Fuel sender wiring question. sorry

Hey, just confirm what colours they are. They look like solid green and solid white into that connector and solid black with the ring crimp. Is that right? Are there any other colours on those wires? Have you tested them for voltage when ign is on and off?

    Outriggers - repair or replace?

Ive not done these ones. Im hoping mine will last until i can afford a galv chassis. I did the tubular outriggers recently though. Massive pain in the arse. They're designed to cut off the old ones up to the chassis and grind flat, then slot the new ones inside the old tube and weld around...

    Outriggers - repair or replace?

Hit it more. If that is all the corrosion there is, i would probably just plate that. Don't get me wrong, new ones would be better and as dr evil says only 20quid a pop. But i'd imagine that's quite a bit or work dismantling and cutting off the old ones to weld the new ones on, and quite tight...

One for the fabricators - sheet steel bending

I did think about that, but really I want something a bit neater. The two 15mm pieces will be hiding some really horrible cuts and welds. :o:)

One for the fabricators - sheet steel bending

That's kinda what I tried already. As I said it came out ****. :o Its slightly curved and twisted and doesn't fit in the gap in needs to. PMs sent to Hamsterberg and Pressbrake re: location.

One for the fabricators - sheet steel bending

I need to bend a piece of rectangular sheet steel, 770mm x 95mm as best I can in this profile. Its doesn't have to be perfect. TBH a couple of mm out in any of the measurements is probably fine. The gauge I've been using is around 1.4mm. Although 1mm to around 1.6mm would be fine also...

Fitting ex-British Rail train horn to Land rover

I used to know a guy who had one on his car transporter lorry. He just ran it off the air tank i think. It was bloody loud. He used it one day to beep some bird on a push bike, she very nearly fell off.

towing trailer on motorway with "L" plates

Oh i don't dispute it, it looks like a quote from somewhere. I see he has posted the same thing on a few sites. Id just like to see an official site that confirms it. The government sites seem sketchy at best on that level of detail. If i ever found myself pulled by plod having accidentally...

Why not just give the missus the grand. Either she can buy herself a corsa and you have the disco or simply as a straight pay off to let you off road it.

    Original jack or something else?

The first time i tried out my bottle Jack i used the chassis as the jacking point. The jack promptly punched a hole through the chassis. :o:eek: I spent the next four days under my landy with the welder as the mot was due that week.
