    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

Ok... so I guess I won't have to wait long to find out what was causing that clunking then as the Rangie is now parked up at the side of the road waiting for me to sort out the AA tomorrow morning!!!!! Was going down the duel carriageway at 60ish; 1) Noticed a strange change into 4th. Shed...

Changing a transfer box on a P38 DSE

Just a long shot... but is there anyone in North Wales (Anglesey) who could be bribed into having a look to diagnose the problem with some bear, coffee, biscuits and a bacon butty?

Changing a transfer box on a P38 DSE

right-e-ho... don't have that symptom. Mine slaps into second and first on the change down and I have what I thought to be an unrelated issue of strong vibration (jerking) at tick-over or very light throttle when moving very very slowly. As I am getting closer to the issue being something...

    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

Yeh... In my heart I think its the transfer box or viscus... but what I'm afraid of and can't afford is to replace both. So I suppose my question is which one do I do first and how I check which one needs changing?

    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

Right... got the beasty back. Oil changed in the main gearbox and transfer box. Stop slip added to main box. I've been told to drive it for about 100miles to see how it goes, but I have a sinking feeling as after 30miles no change. Garage suggests next step if no change after 100miles is to...

Get heaver... I wish. Lived in North wales for year and snow everywhere else. Moved to London then North Wales gets snow and London none. Move back and round we go again. Always in the wrong place! Not fair.... SANTA... "I want snow for xmas please. Proper snow!"

Now you just talking soft! The 'spare wheel space' as I said is a vertical side mount in the rear. You can set a donut tank verticality... I had one.

    unreliable fuel gauge

sender unit or gauge itself... some of the other (more knowledgeable) guys should be able to direct you here... don't know if you can voltage test the signal from the sender to see what's going on. I do know that they are a 'guide' at the best of times... but that does sound a bit excessive...

How much is LPG in your area?

Now you see... that just takes the ****... Its 2010 not 1910 and we don't have LPG. That's why I got rid of my LPG and went black fuel.... Now I can't find Bio anywhere local.

    Considering an expensive Classic...

LPG in the boot space!! why do they do that... scrimping on the installation, looses boot space and just looks ugly. If you don't want it under the car then put it in the spare wheel space. For me to be interested it would need to be around the grand mark... even then I'd be witching me noise...
