Early or Late rear Diff (& IRD)?

Thanks for the advice, got a replacement diff today - hopefully back up and running at the weekend!

Early or Late rear Diff (& IRD)?

No thoughts on bigger bearings v. thinner casting? Are they much of a muchness?

Early or Late rear Diff (& IRD)?

I got stuck in the middle of nowhere with a flat tyre on a Sunday and the spare was the wrong size. Won't be doing that again! It lasted surprisingly long tbh...

Early or Late rear Diff (& IRD)?

Going to need to replace the rear diff on my 1999 1.8 - big bang, lots of oil everywhere, don't ask... :5bbanghead: Anyway, had a search, understand that all ratios are the same, is it worth searching out a later TVK000180 diff with the bigger bearings? Car's mainly used for pootling about...

    Jeep wheels

They should fit OK since the offset is greater on the Jeep wheels - they'll just stick out a bit further. Simply need to check they don't foul the wheelarch plastics I'd reckon, suspension/ steering clearance should be no problem. I'm running 235/70 16s Michelin 4x4s on Freelander alloys, no...

    Nudge bars

The one that fits tight against the bumper? Wouldn't have thought so, the bumpers are very different shapes.

Wheels, Rubber And Spacers - Report!!

That does look good! I've picked up some steel 15s myself, just need to get some cash together for tyres. Those spacers certainly help the look.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Probably overloaded him bringing excess stock over from the Edinburgh fringe. Full hand between the front tyres and arch, two fingers at a push on the back :screaming_bug_eye_f

    Tyre size question

I'm running 235/70 16 Mitchelin 4x4 without any rubbing on standard suspension. I guess it's going to depend on how aggressive your tread is. The 4x4s aren't as chunky as BFGs but more At like than Latitude or Scorpions.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Yup, definitely in the air a bit - should help crawling underneath to fix things ;) Got a 2" lift kit to fit too. I welded in some supports to it though, so needs painting. It seemed to be mainly a tube with a couple of end plates, so tidied up the welding, seamed some bits that had just been...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Had the 235 70 16 Mitchelin 4x4 fitted all round No problems with rubbing yet, despite the earlier alloys with slightly less offset. Also got the leather rear seats in and all the matching door cards - pics to follow! Next to follow HTR's example and go for a raised intake too...

    Front seats swap

Spent half an hour earlier this afternoon getting ready to swap over to Freelander leather seats on my '99. Dead easy to remove - four T50 bolts then disconnect the wiring. Mine have the heater pads and wiring etc. but apart from that seems to be just a case of connecting the standard yellow...

    Michelin Latitude ...but which one?

Will do, but interested in the comment about specifically not to mix them with the Syncrones - or am I reading too much into it?

    Doesnt Sound Good

Mines making the same sort of noise from the same sort of area, but only on lift-off/cruising. Hoping it's prop bearings.

    Michelin Latitude ...but which one?

Sorry to hijack, how about Syncrones and Michelin 4x4s? I've got a pair of each ready to go on, but can probably get my hands on another pair of 4x4s if there's some big compatibility issue. Syncrones better front or back if I go ahead with the two pairs?

    Early v Late Alloys

For future reference (the info I couldn't find!), the presumed early 16" alloys on my Freelander are marked ET46, so only 2mm difference in offset between the older and newer wheels. I fitted a 235/70x16 Michelin 4x4 Synchrone to my spare yesterday and seemed to get away with no rubbing when...
