welcome,if its a defender 200tdi the turbo will be on top of the engine at the side of manifold,if its a disco 200tdi the turbo will be down the side of engine near the exhaust down pipe

is it a 200tdi defender,if so check the earth where it comes out of the battery compartment to the chassis,the earth is crimped to the earth wire,its a bad design and a common fault on the 200tdi defender,it happened to me and your symptoms sound the same

i agree,dont make it easy for them.just something as simple as a disclok and a flashing red LED would be enough to deter most theives. but the harder you make it for them the better

i had similer faults on my 200 defender,bulbs blowing,lights acting up,alarm acting up etc,it turned out one of my earths (gearbox-chassis) was corroded,put new earth wire on and all electrical faults were sorted

yes and there will be earths from engine/gearbox to chassis,they may need taking off and cleaning up

check your earths,a bad earth can cause all sorts of weird problems

Do away with the lifting blocks and put proper 2 inch lift springs on otherwise you will allways have trouble with shocks bottoming out,you can buy a lift kit(4xbearmach +2 springs and 4x procomp+2 shocks)for £200 off ebay,will be loads better than with the blocks.

ive got terrafirma +5's and had this problem,also had the same problem with pro comps,i allways just tighten em till there just touching axle and never had no problem
