    TD5 bad start

I do it in the same way like you described but it doesn't work...I need to restart the Nanocom I can never monitor the starting behavior...

    TD5 bad start

@Brown Are you able to read values with Nanocom from ECU during starting? It's not possible on my TD5, the communication stops and I have to restart the Nanocom...

    TD5 bad start

Does this mean the white (bleed connection) fuel pipe shouldn't have any diesel in it?

    TD5 bad start

Currently the air bleed valve looks like this:

    TD5 bad start

Yes I've changed it a year ago, the old one looked like this: Maybe I should check it again. I cannot hear any conspicuous sound from the pump....I don't have the original non return valve, it's only a reduction of the radius, the part which is looking like a duckbill is missing. If I...

    TD5 bad start

No this doesn't help, but if I press down the gaspedal during start to bleeding the injectors, then the TD5 is starting around in 2 - 3 seconds and running smooth immediately. If I stop it after that, I can start again within the first second. But if I wait some minutes the issue comes back. The...

    TD5 bad start

Update: I've replaced the fuel pipe, don't need the cable ties anymore but starting behavior is still the same. I will try a new CKP although the noisy crank shaft error message is not appear again since some start attempts...

    TD5 bad start

Thanks a lot so far. I will try a bump start tomorrow, this is the easiest I can do. Yes there are swarf on the sensor itself and there is a good chance that the spacer was lost....It wouldn't be the first part that was missing. The connector was definitly destroyed and a new one...

    TD5 bad start

Yes I can just swap the CKP...but I'm not sure... I've tried one more thing today: Before start, I've let the fuel pump run for some minutes and start the engine with pulled down throttle pedal. As far as I know this will enable the bleeding mode of the injectors. The engine starts after 2...

    TD5 bad start

Hi all, I've got a Defender TD5 MY 2002 15P more than a year ago in bad condition. The engine had diesel in oil and a huge maintenance backlog. Today, there are only two things left, but they are driving me crazy and sometimes I think of selling the car because of this. First thing is that the...

I’m new to landyzone although I have been on the defender forums a while !! Td5 knock??

No solution found so far....after driving some long distances on highway, I have the feeling that knocking becomes quiter... but it's kind of unsatisfying... Do you have something changed on our engine? Could you please give some details about your engine?

I’m new to landyzone although I have been on the defender forums a while !! Td5 knock??

The most conspicuous aspect is tha the knocking stops while engine is revving down or pushing operation (is this the right wording?) and no injection is done...so i assume it's not an mechanical/oil issue....put in 1st gear, roll downwards no knocking, in the flat when injection is made to drive...

I’m new to landyzone although I have been on the defender forums a while !! Td5 knock??

My TD5 has 178.000km. Don't give up! There must be a solution. I think if you get another one, you are not "immune" of the issue and when it comes back with your "new" one you are in the same sitation. On the other hand, what will you tell if you are sell your current TD5? It's driving...

I’m new to landyzone although I have been on the defender forums a while !! Td5 knock??

With disconnected injector 2 and 5 knocking is loudest but it's also there on 3 and 4 quieter or not so often - hard to say because of unsteady rev. But when Injector 1 is disconnected i cannot hear a knocking, so Injector 1 is the suspicious....currently I'm searching another method to detect...

I've disconnected the injectors step by step: What do you think...?

I had a look on the waveform from Deftd506 video. It looks like my waveform in post #18. So it's every 5th "combustion". So we have this sound ~6 times per second. Do mean this?

Didn't have it checked on my engine. I would assume it should make everytime the same noise, even when it's cold. I cannot hear the knocking when engine is revving down and no injection is made....

I’m new to landyzone although I have been on the defender forums a while !! Td5 knock??

No, everything is original. I don't think it has to do with the fuel map, because it has worked before and values from flash memory are reliable. Maybe the capacitors are getting weak, but on the other side we have error codes for "short peak injector xxx" and i think the ECU is monitoring the...

I've measured yesterday the current flow of the injectors. Basically they are all looking like that: I've used a shunt with 0,11Ohm, so we have roughly 3,5A at the first peak. I'm not sure if the curve is OK, in comparision with other Unit injectors in the world wide web it looks...
