When you go round the boot sales, you see all those boxes of rusty old spanners, box spanners, drifts etc. - one day all your shiney tools will be consigned to the same fate :( - everything will either be non-repairable or connected by a plastic clip - all you need is a tube of superglue :p
Does it change from Low to High? If it does not do that, then there is a motor failure - there is also and ecu for the autobox, do you have any faults on the dash?
The climate control on the P38 is the most complex system I have had on any car, with blend motors, sensors, relays etc.
As stated, start by the cheap stuff, re-gas, if that doesn't fix it, get the faults read then dig in your pockets :(
Yes - I have a similar problem - I can see the ecu with my Faultmate but cannot connect to it.... I can connect to the BECM etc just not the engine ECU - I thought it could be a wiring issue (there is in fact only two wires between the OBDII and the ECU) but as the Faultmate can see the ECU it...

The condensor sensor is a long stick type thing that pushes through a grommet (I think) into the air box) - my mechanic said it can be got out by just removing the drivers side fascia panel - it is up the top somewhere
I came back from France on Saturday and followed a mahusive winnibego with a trailer on the back carrying a Bently - most of them have a Smart car - that is just showing off...
The only REAL downside I have found with LPG is how looong it takes to fill the tank - I have an 80ltr tank and putting 70ltrs in I can watch two normal cars fill their tank....
Put your location on, then maybe someone can recommend a closer company for you...
Trust me on this - as I have just shelled out £1k on getting my Climate control working - put it on the testbook or whatever and get the faults read from the HVAC ECU - it does not sound like a regas issue - I would lay money on a blend motor or the condesor sensor, both of which will come up as...
