If you need another bellows and pump - just yell, I have one sitting in the garage.

Big End Gone 4.6 HSE P38

Ok - she is running again - new flywheel sensor and water pump - bit of a git cos the bolt had mullered a couple of the tangs on the flywheel that go each side of the sensor, so some new ones welded on - started her up and there was life - revved her up and a tinkling noise, rough as a badger...

    range rover 4.6 electrical problem

It sounds like you have lost sync between the BECM and the ECU - you will need to get it re-synced - if you do not own a sync mate a Land Rover Dealer is probably your best bet... (unless there is someone close who can help you)

    Water Pump

Took my engin out at the begining of the week, noticed a lot of play on the water pump pully, and a leak near the output shaft, I would assume yours is similar (if it was a head gasket it would not be leaking onto the belts). Relativly easy job, wip out the rad, undo the big nut on the fan...

    surrey testbook

Erm the Test Book is the Land Rover Diagnostics kit, you can go to any Land Rover Dealer and they will put it on their Test Book System and charge you £80+. The only reason would be to look at fault codes and clear them down. The alternative is to purchase a Faultmate and use that to read...

Big End Gone 4.6 HSE P38

Not really Wammers - if you had heard the engine running, you would have said it was the Big Ends too

Big End Gone 4.6 HSE P38

OK guys - you will like this..... Engine out now. In the process of removing said engine, it was noted that one of the four bolts securing the flywheel to the torque converter on the transmission was missing.... It appears that said bolt was tumbling around the bell housing like a ball...

Big End Gone 4.6 HSE P38

Spent the day stripping the 'bits' around the engine, ready for dragging it out tomorrow (blooming cold), bolt seems to have sheared of the flywheel, plus noticed quite a lot of play on the water pump, so a few new bits already needed before we have looked inside the engine. Definitely...

Help needed for my P38 4.6 with non starting after engine rebuild

This sounds like the ecu is not talking to the engine, is there a missing cable to one of the sensors?

    Heating controls

OK - plugged it in now, apparently it is the clutch on the compressor stuck open - well that is OK cos I have a leaky valve on the air con that needs replacing... Interesting that the HVAC needs air con when it sees that it is below 3c

    Heating controls

You really need a Faultmate, so that the HEVAC can tell you which part is not working, there are a couple of sensors in there too that I didn't realise existed when I did mine.

Headgasket and other bits on P38 - Advice on what to choose please!

I had this for the last couple of days - checked oil, no problem- then the big end went yesterday - waiting for the engine to be stripped to actually find out what went  As for the vibration, check the prop shafts for play, could be just a new bearing needed

Big End Gone 4.6 HSE P38

I shall have to wait and see then :( it had new bearings 5k miles ago when the engine was re-built - so not sure what caused this...

Big End Gone 4.6 HSE P38

Came out of Tesco's this afternoon and noticed a ticking noise, thought "damn, another blooming prop shaft bearing", got a couple of hundred yards down the road and bang, nasty low end rumble, so immediately stopped the engine - had it recovered to the garage. It is definitely the big end -...

    merry (bah humbug) christmas

We are all Rangy owners, so that is not going to happen - perhaps say "a less expensive New Year..." Merry Crimble everyone.

    Driving lights P38

You are right, fitted them with a relay linked to the main beam - the BECM didn't notice.

    Heating controls

I have an interesting problem... Well not a problem really, as the heating works fine - but the cheque book sign comes on but only when the outside temp goes below 3 degrees. I haven't pluged the diagnostics in yet - too damn cold...
