I agree, a manual diesel feels a bit too tractor-like in the p38. Loads of jerking and clunking takes the smoothness out of the ride experience IMO ;)

strangely enough i know 3 people ,and add me to that list ,who found that the nsf window was the first switch to play up on the switch pack when it was on its way out, possibly that. :)
A bit fiddly,but if the screw comes out undamaged you are halfway there.
I managed to do mine without cutting the vent, but Stufers guide is a good one. As many have said, it seems a bit scary but when you are done you will wonder what the fuss is all about.

:welcome:Ally,i think you will find your OBD reader will only talk with the engine ECU but most of the other systems are non OBD compliant, so to get the full picture ,you will need a bespoke reader ; testbook,faultmate,nanocom etc ;)

leaky return pipes can make them very hard to start as they let air in when the engine is not running and allow fuel to syphon back towards the tank,meaning it has a long way to travel and try to bleed itself when you try to start it after sitting for a bit.
Is the engine check light lighting...
+1 on what Saintv8 says,or maybe the guy you bought it from has been mixing some old engine oil in there to save fuel costs??? ;)
Certainly sounds like it might be "non-combustible" fuel .
