    P38 Good, Bad or Ugly?

I agree, a manual diesel feels a bit too tractor-like in the p38. Loads of jerking and clunking takes the smoothness out of the ride experience IMO ;) DHSE auto is the way to go

    Should it smell hot ?

A bit fiddly, but if the screw comes out undamaged you are halfway there. I managed to do mine without cutting the vent, but Stufers guide is a good one. As many have said, it seems a bit scary but when you are done you will wonder what the fuss is all about. Big long good fitting phillips...

    GEMS MAF Output voltage

Yep, no check light ,no sync i'm afraid. but as Saint says with the flashing lights it might point to a BECM or fuse box problem ;)

RR Diesel wont start help please

dip a bit of paper in that diesel and light it.If the diesel burns , it will burn in the engine

RR Diesel wont start help please

leaky return pipes can make them very hard to start as they let air in when the engine is not running and allow fuel to syphon back towards the tank, meaning it has a long way to travel and try to bleed itself when you try to start it after sitting for a bit. Is the engine check light lighting...

RR Diesel wont start help please

+1 on what Saintv8 says,or maybe the guy you bought it from has been mixing some old engine oil in there to save fuel costs??? ;) Certainly sounds like it might be "non-combustible" fuel .
