So diff pegging was a waste of time!

I rekon it must have, never had the bearing go before but would definatly allow the pinion to move out of mesh when it went

So diff pegging was a waste of time!

Oh yeah, there's no denying the diff gets a world of abuse, standard 24spline front axle with 4 pin pegged diff, 52" chevron tyres. Perkins 4236 and rangie 4 spd box

So diff pegging was a waste of time!

This is good thinking, I will do it and let you know. Never even thought about it but seems like a good idea

So diff pegging was a waste of time!

Yeah, I'm thinking about it. Expensive...would be upsetting to break that!

Thanks for noticing, yes it is, fitted well...who needs a gated garden anyway

So diff pegging was a waste of time!

It's a toy! If you can't have fun it it a risk breaking something then what's the point. It literally goes anywhere...untill it breaks. I have a work truck that I use most days and I have never broken a diff or halfshaft in that ever! My questions wasn't why is my diff breaking, it was what...

So diff pegging was a waste of time!

Yep set her up perfect with dial guage. Was a real nice diff, quite pleased with it when I finished it, will rebuild it tomorrow and keep it gentle like I always used to with normal diffs. I was giving it some beans when it went

So diff pegging was a waste of time!

To be honest I wasn't surprised it broke considering how easy they've broken before. This is my truck

So diff pegging was a waste of time!

Wow what a useful comment! If you've never broken anything then your kind of "landrovering" is sure to be somewhat tamer than what I get up to.

So diff pegging was a waste of time!

Did it myself, yes worked perfectly but I think the top bearing must have smashed first allowing the pinion to move out of mesh rather than the crown wheel moving.

    Bloomin spiders

My truck has always been infested with spiders, I saw the thing about false widow spiders on the news. Te ones in my cab looked like the same so got an industrial bug bomb (good for 8000m cubed or something) Say it on middle seat, lit it and shut the door, thankfully has no headlining at the...

So diff pegging was a waste of time!

Been going through front diffs like crazy so build up a pegged 4 pin diff. Went out this afternoon for a play and blew it in under 5 mins! Crown wheel and pinion destroyed and top pinion bearing destroyed. What else can I do?

Where is chassis number on 86" series 1?

Yeah I'm thinking it's got to be a 54 or 55. And there are supposed to be some differences. Gonna have to go to a show find a good example of both a play spot the difference.

Where is chassis number on 86" series 1?

No reg plate, no vin plate, non-original engine, no plate or numbers on radiator, and only got a 5 digit chassis number, which I think has to be last 5

Where is chassis number on 86" series 1?

Yes I have just discovered this. Meaning if the year is 54 or 55 it will be an 8 digit number. Easy to determine the missing first three just got to determine what year it is??? If it's 56 or later is a 9 digit so will be a bit harder to figure out
  17. D

Where is chassis number on 86" series 1?

So working on the basis that I've got the last 5 numbers. That would mean that the fourth digit would be 1 and that doesn't make any sense? The chassis numbers I can see read 16676

Door strikers for lift up handle type doors

I've seen those type of strikers, never actually seen them used on a truck though. Why is there different types of strikers for lift up handle type, seems to be 3 different types of striker. Can I use any?

Where is chassis number on 86" series 1?

No not original engine as far as I'm aware and plate on gearbox is far too corroded to see any numbers

Door strikers for lift up handle type doors
