    Discovery Sill Replacement

In the process of doing this to my mates 300 at the minute but cutting the whole sill out (rusty or not) and replacing it with 80x160x5mm box section with bolt on tree sliders. Will weigh about 14tons but will outlast the disco! And if its successful on his, mine will be next.

    300tdi rear bumper

Hi, I guess a few people on here have non standard rear bumpers on their disco's. Just wondered if you had any problems wit the indicators flashing 10 to the dozen when you removed the bumper bulbs. Mine flash like a barstool but a guy at work says his are fine:confused:..... any ideas? Cheers

    Steering Issues

Talking to my mate the other day, he had same problem, changed both CV's, turned out to be the diff lock not disengaging properly, so it was in perm 4wd.

me disco breaks then fixes itself help

It seems to me that it just doesn't like travelling at 55mph, try doing 53mph and see if you have the same problem. Defo sounds like a fuel starvation problem, could well be dirt in the bottom of the tank, I'm sure it can be cleaned in situ, by removing the plate in the boot floor and...

    Steering Issues

You should get a good idea by jacking it up, one side at a time, turning the wheel and listening to the CV. I'd think only one side has gone so whichever sounds the worst is your culprit.

    Steering Issues

I'd have to say the CV joint too, not a big job and relatively inexpensive if you're prepared to get your mits dirty!

    P gasket help!

Think I've sorted it now, took the bracket off completely and flatted the face, same with the block, put on loads of jointing compound and gave the bolts a good torque up. Fingers crossed!

    P gasket help!

As previously stated, replaced the head gasket, cylinder head and P gasket recently. I used a new ali P gasket from paddocks smeared with jointing compound (also from paddocks) all seemed to be going well. Checked the water every couple of days for 2 weeks with no water loss. All temps normal...

    power steering pulley

They are a bit of a nightmare, best thing is a strap wrench. Available from most car shops. Or an old belt wrapped round and held with a pair of mole grips. The trick is to suprise the bolts with sharp bursts, like an impact gun does.

    Heater not very warm......

Also check the water level. If it's too low there won't be any getting to the temp sensor or heater matrix.

    Water pump 300tdi problem... URGENT

And don't I know that!! Cooked mine twice in the last 3 months, 2nd time was due to the P gasket. Big an expensive job for the sake of a £1 gasket and and hours work!

    Swivel pin housing leak

All swivels should now have grease instead of oil. It can fail the MOT on a leaking swivel but not on a scored ball. You can also buy a CV gaiter kit that takes the swivel balls themselves out of the MOT test.

    light bars and mots

Only factory fitted lights are tested as part of the MOT, roof lights, bonnet lights and working lights are not tested unless they are wired to the main lighting circuit.

    wheels locking

It could be the CV joints. Do you get a clunking on partial steering lock?

    door locks

Probably just something sticking or a bit dirty then. All good fun!!:)
