    Advice on Welder

Clarke welders are generally good, this looks a decent welder for general purpose welding inc patching your sills, 35amp will be fine as long as you cut back to good metal. The only thing which these welders is that they sometimes don't put enough gas through and it gets blown away easily...

    300tdi starting problem

Hi guys, my 300 disco has recently decided to start going wrong. The starter side of the immobiliser would not put power to the starter solenoid occasionally but a few minute wait would see normal activities resumed. Then it stopped putting power through at all, causing me to bypass it. All was...

Help checking I'm buying the right parts

Both these parts are correct for the 300 disco, yes, 130tdi does refer to 130 defender. I've just fitted this clutch fork and STC8358B clutch kit. Try and get a cast release bearing too as the kits come with plastic ones.

    diff or not?

Does the whine get louder as the engine revs increase or your speed? i.e, is it the same at 3000rpm in 2nd as it is at 3000rpm in 5th?

    Disco roof leak

Took all of the rear trim panels out of my disco today to weld in new arches and plate some holes in the floor caused by the lake that is the boot. Decided to find out where the water was getting in, removed and resealed the alpine window which did bugger all. Took headlining out - all dry...

    Alternator help

100 amp, will charge battery quicker, doesn't take alot more to drive. If you are drawing a lot of electrical power or doing short journeys 100amp is a must

Your expert opinions on my rust please!

I've seen worse but as spin says, rip it out and start again. Main floor is cheap as chips, side parts that go round the arches are a bit of the expensive side for what they are. I cut my own from some 14g plate. Chances are the supports under the floor are buggered too so its best to remove...

    Heavy Steering and grinding noise?

check pas fluid level, if that's ok, then chances are, pas pump is on its way out. £60ish for a new one and 30mins to fit

Is there much diffirence in power between the 2.5 and 300TDi

As everyone has said, not a lot of difference between 200 and 300, the 200 disco's just look very old fashioned inside as where the 300 looks a little better. td5's are **** hot but too many solder joints and wires for me..... and they won't run on veg oil

    propshaft spacer

Not too sure what you mean by PS spacers, you don't need a double cardon prop with 2" lift, a wide angle prop would be a benefit though. Best to use hardy spicer uj's if you are keeping standard prop. Also, swap rear prop for a 200tdi one as rubber donuts rip like tissue paper when axle...

My disco 1 has developed a bad vibration since my lift

Scrap rear donut, buy a 4 bolt conversion flange for £35ish from paddocks, and fit a 200tdi rear prop. Disco td5 front props are ok but aren't geasable (you will need adapter flange from LT230 - £45ish). Best to get a proper double cardon one but £200+

Looking good mate, hoping to do this myself in the not too distant future. Got the roof on my new garage this weekend so not long until I can start filling it with land rover bits

    Disco suspension lift

That's right, but I want to increase the lift so that I can fit bigger bump stops to stop the tyres catching on the arches. So I'd be no better off. Think I'm goin for terrafirma TF123 and TF124 shocks with -2" turrets and +3" springs.

    Disco suspension lift

Greenhornet, surely you get more articulation from +3" shocks and -2" turrets, as this is a combined 5", as where +5" shocks and +2" turrets only gives a combined 3".
