Need a new Swivel hub kit - but which one ?

Took off the, erm, slightly distorted track rod ( also greased up wheel bearings etc )...but sadly, had to down tools as my goodies never arrived. Hopefully here on Monday :) Britpart swivel seems to be holding up well with no leaks ( but I used Bearmach seals etc ).

First time Defender owner, long time admirer

Welcome, you'll never stop playing with her !!! Knock could be rear 'A' frame joint or simply worn UJ's. Give everything a healthy gunking down, then dust with talc underneath ( bit gay but it works :) ) and you'll see where any leaks are coming from.

Need a new Swivel hub kit - but which one ?

OK..ordered a few more goodies to finish the front end off. Track rod/ends ( just standard ) as mine is bent from PO fun and games, plus 30mm wheel spacers ( as I have early disco wheels and 265 tyres fitted which just touch the chassis ( steering stop bolts adjusted fully out ). Once all...

Thanks guys, nipped over to LR in Liverpool and bought all the parts I'll need ( except the lower washer (11 ) in the diagram but hopefully can cut one out from card etc) Swivel is Brit Part:eek:, that's all they stock. Seals are Bearmach etc:). So I'll be having a go at this tomorrow...

Need a new Swivel hub kit - but which one ?

Just an update before I take the plunge. I have a 24 spline driveshaft and the swivel is attached to the axle by 7 bolts. Large seal is 4625 6020 378. So it looks like you guys were right re FRC7065 :-) Incidently, I see they use a fish scale to pull the hub when putting in the shims and...

Need a new Swivel hub kit - but which one ?

Thanks guys, appreciated, FRC7065 looks favourite at the moment :-) I'll take the F/N/S wheel off and post a better photo, count the holes ( 6 or 7 by the looks of it - then it'll save me making a few (30 mins each way ) trips to swop over parts etc.) and I'm assuming series wheel bearings are...

Need a new Swivel hub kit - but which one ?

Got a nice dink in my front swivel..right on the lower seal. Had the seal replaced but the 'one-shot' still weeps a tad :-) Sent an email to my local independant LR supplier as: I have a 1989 Defender 90 that has been converted with a front non abs RANGE ROVER CLASSIC axle. I will be...

Would You Use A Britpart Clutch?

I think Grimmer sums it up.....***part have gained a reputation for a good reason ( whether all is true or not ) and replacing a clutch should hopefully be a once only job and is it really worth taking a chance with ? ( You'll be hearing and reacting to every little noise etc if you fit it -...

    90 defender rebuild

Very nice and thorough job and a very decent price ( mine was £5,000 with a def 200tdi installed )... still cost me another £1200 on top of that as the gearbox etc was f***ked. The joys of owning a land Rover eh? You only get what you pay for.
