Thanks Twinter, That makes sense now. As mentioned, I was under the impression my fuel pump did not work at all, because with a quarter tank left the car would only run idle. I now suspect the pump-output must have been less than normal (is that possible ?) Probably changing the fuel...

Should add, that I suspect the sub-zero temperatures aggravating the problem and causing more trouble in damp wiring. Is that right ? Mike

Top advice, spot on guys ! :clap2: With the advice of having to take shoes out, I decided to fix the hand brake cable right away. Took the shoes off, cleaned it out, fitted the hand brake cable, adjusted the "auto adjuster" (cam) and everything fitted back nicely. Thanks. :D...

Yes, thanks, the handbrake cable was broken and I pulled it out. No cable left on that side anymore.
