Defender 90 Heater control snapped! Help

What do you need a heater control for anyway? Defender heaters don't do anything. Get a dog to breath on you, it's a lot warmer (and in some cases a lot better smelling)

    New Defender

Remember with all that new electrickery you will be expecting even more electrical faults than on the old defender... As for the 2012, I am scared as to what land rover might come up with

    Snorkel advice

If you have money to burn definitely get a safari. When I was living in Australia all they were using over there was safaris, because they're so tough. You don't really need to be worried about dust getting in with it etc, because everyone just speeds through the dust and all that at 140km/h and...

how high to go lift wise

You are right, but if you were to have, for example a 2" lift, that would increase the height of obstacles you could clear by 2", because all you would need to do is roll your tire up to the obstacle and drive over, whereas without a lift you would probably hit the obstacle with your bumper...

How reliable/unreliable has your defender been?

But most people report blown head gaskets in something more like 6 MONTHS. Besides, I only suspect it was a head gasket, all I know is the thing was overheating and land rover had the head off it for some reason, but I suspect it was a head gasket, being a 1.8 (with loads of miles on it)...

How reliable/unreliable has your defender been?

I'm just verifying a few things before I set out to buy one... I know it's pretty hit and miss with landies, everyone says the freelanders are the worse things ever in terms of reliability, but my dad had one for 6 years and the only problem he ever had was a blown head gasket (once). Like, I...

    Defender with overdrive

Well obviously check obvious stuff like fuses, bulbs etc (I don't know how easy bulbs are to get to on defenders) but if that looks alright you can check if your diff lock is engaging or not: Instructions on bottom of page Fixing a Land Rover Discovery Stuck Differential Lock or Transfer Case

Best place for the spare wheel?

Ok, thanks for your responses everyone, and nice truck wiltshire landyman. But just out of interest, does anyone know why the military (generally) chooses to place the wheel on the bonnet and not on a swing away carrier or inside? Again thanks for your responses

Best place for the spare wheel?

Hello everyone, I'm just wondering where the best place to put the spare wheel on a defender 90 is. I'm told that mounting it on the bonnet introduces bonnet release and visibility problems, door mounted ones cause the door to fall off, and swing away mounts are expensive and you can't see out...

MOD Replacement for Snatch Land Tover

Well, the military's loss is our gain. Hopefully we will see some more cheap ex mods out soon. But what I don't understand is the fact that the landys are being replaced by a vehicle much larger and heavier, which will presumably make them difficult in soft terrain.
