    CB's

Hi Dr Pepper – Can I take you up on your offer and ask for a bit of advice then please... I have a President Johnson II with a whippy coil 5” aerial. My SWR is excellent over all channels but just the last few weeks have been getting a lot of “interference” on most channels when in the wilds and...

    anyone got qt diff guards??

No I dont think it does - mine is a TD5 but as we know the standard QT guard is too short - would be nice if they made one to fit though.

    anyone got qt diff guards??

Did you get a response from QT? As I said I took mine back for a refund with no porblems but would be nice if the kit they made fitted the axle it was designed for.

Intro..mods? and finally spot light help

You need to run a direct feed for the battery (fused as close to the live as possible) then switched and relayed before you go to the lights - dont just piggy back onto the existing wiring as you will be asking for trouble (and shorts etc)

    anyone got qt diff guards??

Hello – I had exactly the same problem. I purchased mine from Bearmach in Abergavenny and spent ages trying to fit the thing using loads of different permutations, but as you say the reach is too short by 15mm (about the same dimensions you mention). My 90 is a standard CSW (2005) but...

    Titanium Bolts

But if you torque stainless to Land Rover specifications you will be fine - seems a bit of overkill to me.

    Would value your opinion

Looks like a good clean 110 - haggle down but she looks straight and "cherished"

    Screws, nuts and washer replacements

If its black and flexible its likely to be "Dum Dum" again I have used that all over the place on my 90 (door tops, footwells, under the seats, cubby box etc) to stop all the water spray entering my cabin. Sikaflex sets, but Dum Dum remains black and sticky - very usefull stuff and cheap...

    Screws, nuts and washer replacements

I have been replacing my fixings gradually with stainless from Alpha Fasteners (a local independant retailer) and they have been very helpfull. I have just been buying a few fixings at a time and the cost is mininimal over standard steel. As far as sealant is concerned I use Sikaflex 292 in...

Diesel in TD5 Engine Oil...just how common and Turner Engineering Heads

Thought I would just round of this post... have been in detailed correspondence with Land Rover since the cylinder head on my 3 ½ year old 90 gave up with 61,000 on the clock. Excellent service from BG Land Rovers in the repair but Landrover (GB) have now effectively washed their corporate hands...

Diesel in TD5 Engine Oil...just how common and Turner Engineering Heads

Have to say I would agree - the head may be cracked or pourous but in any event the common rail lets derv out and it mixes with the oil - LR are selling refurbished heads at around £1280 and the turner heads (with valves) are around £1050 - its an expensive fix...

Land Rover Goodwill Payments - any one ever had one?

I am interested in hearing from anyone who has been sucessful in obtaining any form of goodwill payment from Land Rover - especially if its in connection with TD5 engine failure on a vehicle just out of warantee...

TD5 Porous Head – Anyone had this (very) expensive fault?

Finally got my TD5 back - bill was just shy of £3000 and my original request for a goodwill payment from Landrover has been refused on my 3 1/2 year old Defender because I did not get the repair carried out by a franchised dealer. I have written back to the LR Executive Team and Customer...

TD5 Porous Head – Anyone had this (very) expensive fault?

Many thanks. No I have never had any overheating and the head was cracked around injector number 2. Seems to be a common problem with "pourous heads". I have spoken to Turner Engineering and they have confimed they have a steady sale of new AMC (strenghtened) heads. My Defender had done only...

Diesel in TD5 Engine Oil...just how common and Turner Engineering Heads

Thanks for that - its a massive cost but what can anyone do? I managed to get £500 from my AA Warantee and have been digging around - Honest John (Telegraph) says... "By 2007 cracked cylinder heads were becoming a very common problem on TD5s. So much so that the supply of replacement heads...

Diesel in TD5 Engine Oil...just how common and Turner Engineering Heads

Following on from my blown turbo post and diesel in the engine oil sub post on Monday (Defender forum) my mechanic has phoned me today to say he has identified the cause of my problem. I have a porous head around number 2 injector. Total cost for repair plus the new turbo will be around £2500...
