Is anyone happy with their 1.8 ?

Neale, Like Nathan said, chill. From what I've read in the past it's just MHM's sense of humour. I don't think he's looking for "downfalls" or owt like that...there's no point being aggressive (especially virtually) 'cos it ain't going to further your cause. From my experience (even asking...

Is anyone happy with their 1.8 ?

Yeah, same here, lurked around a bit, doing homework before buying a disco, liked the feel of the place so joined. The guy must have issues...

hard to get gears when cold

If it's any consolation mine is the same and what was said about not snatching gears is bang on. It's a completely different drive than a car, you'll soon get used to it and love it!

All Dicso TD5 owners change your MAF sensor now!

Thanks UP, you've just condensed into a paragraph what 40 minutes of googling told me! :) Yeah, de-egr'd it and that made a difference, going to clean the IC as soon as I get the guts to do it but don't want to fanny about this much then be let down by what is basically a miniature lightbulb...

All Dicso TD5 owners change your MAF sensor now!

So if you disconnect the MAF will the engine be fuelled properly? If you can leave it off till the next service can you just leave it off permanently? Got a rough idea of what it does, but how does it do it? I know I may be asking thicko questions but am still relatively new to Disco...

All Dicso TD5 owners change your MAF sensor now!

Am I missing something here? I checked my MAF when I first got my disco as there was quite a bit on here about cleaning etc...so cleaned it with carb cleaner. Looked ok when i took it out and wasn't dirty or anything but cleaned it all the same. I've de egr'd it and that has made a difference...

    Inlet Manifold Cleaning

:hijacked: I'm also planning on doing my inlet and intercooler this weekend after binning the egr, can i ask why it's important to make sure the paraffin is cleaned out? What will happen if not? Sorry to butt in DN but am intrigued!

    new to the game!!!

I agree with Medusa, I shopped around for ages and A.F were the cheapest. And if you mention this forum (or is it LRUK?) :o you get a supposed discount too.

    How fast ?

When I first took the egr off I thought "let's just see..." 2 in the morning, autobahn, an easy ton. Allegedly. Glad the new donut was on though! Never again  60 is enough for me, maybe 70 with a rush of blood (and a full wallet)

    Td5 Rear Seat Noise

I have had exactly the same problem. I found that the best thing to use was an old pair of the wife's knickers. Keeps the dog entertained in the boot no end.:D

    Disco Td5 cruise control

JH2, thanks for that, I used A1 in Bury a while back to get a middle rear seatbelt, John's a good lad, went up there and took it out meself, John let me have a good rummage. Oooer missus! Don't know why I didn't think of him before... Anyway, in reply to the above question, my...

    disco 2 arch trim

Mine are exactly the same. Until I feel like shelling out for a new set I've been using Autoglym Bumper Care gel. Doesn't make it completely black but it seems to "moisturise" the plastic if you know what I mean. Best applied with an old toothbrush (i know, i know:o) to avoid having to de-fluff...

    Disco Td5 cruise control

Got a question for all you knowledgable people out there... Will the steering wheel switch from a Gaylander work on a D2 Td5? Or same switch from a Rover? (of unknown parentage) Seen some cheep on fleabag. Rang main stealer on tues re switches and STILL waiting for a callback re them being...

    EGR Binned

Well, finally got round to doing it and got to say, makes a helluva difference! No more flat spot at junctions, can change up into every gear at lower revs and is a lot smoother on overrun. Now to start doing my sums re: MPG... Got it from JGS 4X4 on fleabag and would highly recommend them...
