Sounds like mine was a couple of weeks back, parts cost me £8.59, everyone I spoke to was saying "fuel pump", decided to give washers and o rings a go first as MUCH cheaper and bingo. Sorted. O rings - ERR7004 Copper washers - ERR6417 5 of each.

In reply to the question about 4 pipes, afaik one is fuel to filter, one is return from filter, one is to fpr on engine block and one is fuel return from gallery through cooler to tank.

Sounds like the copper sealing washers on the injectors to me... had the same thing, removed and cleaned pump, no better, started getting arsey to start, got washers done and fine ever since....

Silly. Didn't mention tracking, did I? Was just a suggestion, trying to help (what this forum is for ain't it?) Have encountered similar on previous car I have owned. The most obvious answer is usually correct (occam's razor and all that) I bow to your greater knowledge and experience...

Wasn't being silly. OP stated it's a D2, and 2 o'clock seems a long way out for a steering arm. Chances are someone's had the wheel off for doing summat.

Wheels straight, remove steering wheel and refit on splines in correct position?

Like discool said, read yer handbook! However, if you've not got one... Get in, ignition to position 1, put seatbelt on, move seat / mirrors cos missus has been driving it, take boyzone cd out and snap it, then start up (all lights except batt and engine light out)= 3 chimes. Disco runs...

Actually, sod the bulb, there's got to be some correlation between the items listed as not working 'cos they're all close(ish) together...look for worn / trapped wiring? Have read something about heated / elec seat wiring causing mischief somewhere on here.

TBH dunno about relay whereabouts on a '97, but have you taken the bulb out of the smashed fog? Worth 2 mins work. I'm sure someone older and wiser will be along in a bit...

Back to the dealer again? If no joy ask 'em what they found the first time and eliminate it from the list. Have you checked the appropriate relays? And are there any aftermarket gubbins that could have inline fuses that are blown and having a knock on effect?

Thanks guys but it's not the vicious fan I need. It's the AIRCON fan, sits in front of the radiator on the driver's side. Hell of a big fuse for a small fan...
