    2.5DSE Auto trans power handling.

Towing with the Rangey is never going to be an option. I have the Jeep for towing. So, how's this for an option. Assuming I went for an increase in the BHP dept, Keep the current box in situ and have a Z24 in the shed ready. Howzat. Seems like a nice easy option. :)

    2.5DSE Auto trans power handling.

At the moment this is pretty much a hypothetical problem solving question. It may well have been broached before. As it stands my bog standard 2.5DSE is adequate. For how much longer? I don't know. I have a low boredom threshold and spring is approaching.:) IF and it's a reasonably large IF (At...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Finally got around to putting new serpentine belt and pulleys on. Ridiculously easy once I'd found the enthusiasm. 30 Mins, job done and tea slurped. :)

Thank you. :) Got to get it booked in next month for Fluids and filters change. I'll get it plugged in and checked at the same time. Lock up is fuctioning OK. The only reason I ask is going from a 4.0 litre yank tank with a ferociously grippy auto box to the P38 is a bit like going from shark...

    ouple of Auto questions.

As title guys. 1/ What should a 2.5DSE be ticking over at when warm? According to the Tacho it's about 800 RPM However my ears reckon it's closer to 1000 RPM. Any easy way of checking tacho accuracy? Or is it just that 6pots sound busy? 2/ What engine speed should the autobox lock up at...

    Part number help pleeeeeze.

I say fellows. Does any really clever boffin type chaps on here know the part number of the pulley shown below? It's a P38 2.5DSE. Got all the other bibbly bob bits to do the belts but this little blighter seems to be rather evasive. .... :D

2.5dt Serpentine belt and associated issues.

Hopefully it is just an old belt. I'll replace the air con belt as well. Only had it three weeks so looking good for the future. :D

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll check all the pulleys and tensioner, throw a new belt on at the weekend and trust to luck. Seems to be the Land Rover way. :D

2.5dt Serpentine belt and associated issues.

Hi guys. First real problem with the P38 reared its ugly head this morning. just left work to go home, 4-5 minutes up the road and i lost my power steering and alternator warning light came on. Obvious thought was serpentine belt had snapped. Drove car 200 yards further up the road and tried...

Hello from the Isle of Wight.

Hi all. Just joined up after a thorough search trying to find the best LR forum. This one seems to tick all the boxes. I've had a goodly variety of Landies over the years and am now currently trying to coax another 30 odd years out of a somewhat tired looking but mechanically healthy '75 Series...
