    Can I escape this penalty?

my own little act of rebellion when paying cheques to people who i really don't think deserve my cash is to replace the innocuous word 'only' with the much more satisfying phrase 'and not a single penny more!' MW

Jump starts for this winter what will you use?

Bit of a thread revival, and slight change of direction here, but can anyone recommend a decent set of jump leads? My old half decent pair always seem to end up in the other vehicle, and the cheapo set are rubbish. I guess something that will pass enough current to jump start the td5 off...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Sorted the rattling engine cover, replaced the bare metal plates with rear bump-stops, and confirmed that there is an electrical feed to the heated screen, meaning it's the element itself that is knackered. Guess i'll start de-icing it with boiling water then! MW

    Insurance Rwnewal

The fact is they is all robbing bastids, who will take every penny they possibly can from you for 'cover', and then do everything they can to pay out as little as possible should you need to use that 'cover'. Premiums will always rise once you get down from the initial 'punishment zone' of...

    Fuel starvation??

I had this problem on my old VM diesel rangie, and it was the fuel filter. A Mate had the same on his tdi converted rangie, but worse. Got recovered home after the RAC told him it looked like a dead turbo. In both cases the fuel filter was the cause. I have read about fuel filter problems...

    Tales of rescues

Anyone thought of starting a petition for the 'freedom to drive the vehicle of my choice" or somesuch, and then carrying a copy with them. If someone needs a tow, then they sign the petition, or they stick with their principles, and remain stuck? I would, but we have yet to have any conditions...

xyz switch - How F'ing Much!!!?

Thanks Vic. The connector block got a good clean at the same time as i was soldering up the chafed wire. It was the two failures the following day that made me decide I'd better go and get the switch. I wonder if i can return the switch, but keep the box so the truck 'thinks' i still have the...

So, who else has had *NO* snow whatsoever this year, then?

We live in a 'weather hole' (or just a hole, depending on your point of view!) I can remember flying out of Upwood, and seeing white all around the area, but none here. Shouldn't complain I suppose, but just a little bit would be nice. For the kiddies of course. MW

xyz switch - How F'ing Much!!!?

Several days of driving later, and still it is fine. So what do I do? Do i try and return the £350 switch? Do I continue to carry it in the car for is talisman like healing properties? DO i fit the bugger anyway while the bolts and splines underneath are still all nice and copper slipped...

    Axle bump stop

So a question on this. How important are they? Consensus seems to be that they are not required for an MOT, but if they were both missing, would you replace them? If you put your Disco into a specialist for a condition report / assessment, would you expect them to at least report that they...

xyz switch - How F'ing Much!!!?

Been under it now, found that the blue wire chafed nearly through, so I sorted that, refitted everything and it was fine for a day. Then it did faulted a couple more times, so I gave up and went and picked up a switch today. Of course, it has not thrown up a fault since, though I still have the...
