    300 tdi vs td5

My TD5 doesn't do anal or fisting, but it'll sit at 60mph on the motorway quite comfortably. It's a bit funny as 50mph is no problem at all. 60mph is decent. 65mph is getting annoying. 70mph is almost painful, 75mph is painful. :) The noise level rises so much and it starts to vibrate a bit too...

    Pop rivets for cappings

I need to do mine too at some point, and one thing I'm fearing is this... Can I just unbolt the roof/sides and lift it up a bit, without removing the windscreen and such? Or do I need to remove the windscreen and take it all off? I understand I need to lift it enough to get the pop rivet gun...

    Cloudy Headlights

Is this a guess or a fact? Degreaser might work, because most likely the dirt is a bit greasy.

    Cloudy Headlights

I've got some Hella lights that are cloudy. Been thinking of fixing them, but I don't know how. I reckon a lint-free cloth, secured to a screwdriver with some zip ties or something, and then spraying some brake cleaner into the light, and swirling the rag around from the light-bulb-hole might...

    dintrinol

I've not used Dinitrol rc900 (I'm guessing that's the one you're asking about? :D ) but a 400ml can seems a bit sparse to cover the whole chassis, but obviously it depends on how much rust you have. And whilst you're at it, slow down the rusting on the inside of the frame rails with some...

    Rear Door Wheel Carriers

Mine came with an already knackered door, a spare brand new door, and a Mantec carrier. I'm very pleased with the carrier. It's also got grease nipples so it seems to be built to last. However, one thing that bothers me is that the powder coating is flaking off in huge flakes. I guess I'll...

    Can you remap a 2001 y reg td5

I've heard about the dowels, but the manifold stuff has slipped past me. :) I try to be nice to it, warming it up before putting stress on it, fresh oil and filters in good time.

    Can you remap a 2001 y reg td5

What's this about? I know the early TD5s have some weakness', but never heard about manifolds/studs? I've got a 1999 TD5 and might want it chipped one day. :) Thanks!

    Roof Bars for Defender

Hey Mike, how about a bit of an unorthodox suggestion? Use POR15 POR15 Products | Frost Auto Restoration Techniques on the rusty bars. It won't be permanent, but it'll definitely last for many many years, and when the protection is gone, all you have to do is to re-paint it (maybe a bit of...

Has anyone fitted the VNT turbo to their def engine?

I should have been more clear, a larger intercooler doesn't bring more power, but I've been lead to believe that the standard intercooler is pretty much maxed out with the standard injection and turbo settings. So if you'd chip it first, you'd reach the ceiling quite quickly. My engine is...

Has anyone fitted the VNT turbo to their def engine?

Which engine do you have? I've heard that for my engine, the TD5, the first thing to do when wanting more power is to install a larger intercooler. Then to chip it. I'd guess a different turbo would be next up after that. Assuming that intake and exhaust are capable of blowing more air through...

    Roof Bars for Defender

Why not take the bars you have to a blaster, then galvanise them and then give them a coat of paint (or even powder coat, which I personally don't like)?
