    D2 seat covers

I'm probably lucky... but my Britpart seat covers fit well in the front! Its the back where they tend to wander a little bit... these were a gift shortly after I bought the car. I could suggest Car Seat Covers, waterproof boot liners, tailor made car mats, 4x4 accessories They made some...

    Disco to Timbuktu!?

To be honest - if I had that budget and that task I'd probably go with Jeremy Clarksons recommendation of a 1600cc VW Beetle... (from the Top Gear Namibia special) Its light (remember that sand and those salt pans) reliable - straight forward mechanically - and you'll find parts in remote...

    Disco to Timbuktu!?

I know the top gear team regularly do expeditions in old cars, but then they have a full back up team and reserve vehicles and a budget to upgrade the dropping off bits as they go along.... You are highly unlikely to get a disco for £1k in a condition where you can expedition with it. People...

Sump plug stuck 300 tdi - elp pls

The plugs are sometimes made of different material to the sumps - so you can get some dissimilar metal corrosion if they have been in place for some time - even when they are sitting in oil! This is perhaps obvious but once its out (and good luck with that) be sure to either replace it or soak...

    cd player

Look on Ebay too - they have a aux for some discoveries that allows you to fit an ipod - it `tricks' the unit into thinking its a cd unit and so you get good quality sound. I've just ordered one.

    Disco 2 td5

When my ACE goes I intend to ditch it and replace it with standard roll bars. Easier to maintain in some of the places I intend to drive. see http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/binned-ace-132743.html

    two inch lift

Modified front props are about £186 on ebay. They are not essential in the short term and some people manage without them but I'm intending to fit one when I lift mine (td5) - reduces load on transfer box bearings too. Question though - when were your UJs last greased? they need very regular...

    confused about tyres

As the man says - if you intend to lift then do that before fitting tyres as the only point of lifting the body (it doesnt lift the axles) 2" is so that larger tyres will fit (as it is these that will lift the axle and improve ground clearance)

    MOT Pass

Its Bramcote Hills Garage on Derby Road. That would be around the cost for what they call an `Annual Service', which is engine oil change, all filters changed, all other lube's checked and topped up (not replaced), greasing all the moving bits (inc propshaft, doors, sunroofs) etc. and inc parts...

    MOT Pass

I know people locally here (Nottingham) who have an annual service on a D2 done for under £400. They've wanted the stamp in the service book - which can be useful on resale. £700 is excessive

    MOT Pass

I think the answer is that most of us on here are probably doing the servicing ourselves - ensuring the job gets done properly, saving on the labour costs and improving on the quality of oil and parts used...

    Oil light flickering on idle.

Up to you - but... If I was in your position I'd want to monitor the oil pressure in more detail than just the flickering light. You can get a kit that fits between the engine block and the oil filter on ebay that includes an oil pressure sensor SANDWICH OIL TEMP/ PRESSURE ADAPTOR ALL...

    Diff lock centre console decal

I've just fitted Diff-Lock to my TD5 and the decal came with the kit. This must be the same decal as for the 300tdi. The kit was supplied by Jay at: Home - DiscoveryTd5 If you email him he may be able to help.

I'm just guessing here - perhaps you may have overtightened the wheel bearing?

    Oil light flickering on idle.

Yep - its an oil pressure issue, so the pump aint pumping it as it should or the oil is getting past worn bits that it shouldnt. Thicker oil or an additive may help in the short term

    300tdi auto box probs

Guess - could be leak or other problem on the integral oil pump making the oil `foam'. I remember my old man having that problem on a Ford Granada many moons ago.
