    window bar

You can take the window tops out from the door bottom and clean it up and repaint before replacing - see the attched link which shows you how to start stripping down the rear door www.discovery2.co.uk / Rear Passenger door lock Assy Hope this helps,

    td5 + ford

Yup - I agree with thebiglad. Fords are great fun but I'd want at least to fit breather extensions to the gearbox and axles before tackling one at that depth. What happens otherwise is that hot gearbox and axles cool suddenly in the water, the air contracts and there is a `sucking in' effect...

    De-Ace a Disco 2?

Even with a conversion to springs its cheaper to bin the ACE than to try and repair it and I'm not convinced there is that much `added value' from ACE...

    Squeaking

I think this could be damper bushes as Storm 99 and Ahaggar says - though I've also had it on springs that werent properly located in the seat following a change.

OH NO, What have I done!!!!

If you stopped it before the oil light came on then you may be lucky. change the oil - add some slick 50 and keep everything crossed when you turn the ignition. Good luck!

    De-Ace a Disco 2?

See this string - you can replace the ACE with a standard system for around £350 http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/binned-ace-132743.html Though I do know of people who have binned the ACE and havent bothered to put anything it its place... see for example the attached link which promises to...

Is the `engine start' sign there in case anyone wants to nick it? :)

Where to fit a cb radio in a D1.

I've never understood why these things dont get smaller. My new one is the same size now as my one was in the 1980's (before they were legal) - but look at the way mobile phones have reduced in size! You'd think a slimline version would be possible.

Looking after my Disco 2003 TD5.

yup I agree. Regular servicing and at shorter intervals than the workshop manual is the single best thing that a disco owner can do. A well maintained td5 can take you anywhere you want to go in the world. If you dont have a full service history. I'd be tempted to change all the oils as a...

    TD5 Auto - Difflock?

Yup - problem with TC is that you sometimes have to press the accelerator to activate it, so if in mud you've already dug yourself in with the spinning wheel! Only way around that is to have a locker on the front and or rear diff or have or limited slip diff fitted. The central Difflock just...

    TD5 Auto - Difflock?

see Ashcroft Transmissions - Disco II Diff lock and Home - DiscoveryTd5 for linkage mechanism but you'll need to go to Ashcroft for the internal mechanism if its not already in the transfer box.

    Finally got the discovery!

I would like to know where i can buy a jockey wheel from to replace my ace pump????

Check the thread `binned the ace' - http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/binned-ace-132743.html the replacement kits are available and are about half the price of a new pump!!

    new stoopid question

You dont say what version of the Discovery you have but... many Disco 2's dont have a diff-lock lever - that may be the source of your difficulty.... They need to be fitted and the diff-lock mechainsm possibly even installed in the transfer box...
