    My 300Tdi rescue thread

Thanks to StuRox for his suggestion about fitting 110 front brakes to the Disco, I've now ordered a full brake overhaul for the Disco - 110 vented discs at the front and new bog std D1 discs at the rear. I was going to flush the system with new brake fluid, but having looked at the calipers it...

Upgrade to Disco 3 or 4?

One word of warning, while they look and drive extremely well, my LR indy mechanic says their engines are like unstable grenades - they go off without warning. You can have a fully maintained, cossetted D3/D4 and it'll be running perfectly well, then without warning the engine will fail...

    Disco 2 Bull Bars

I put a genuine LR one on my early Disco 2 - but I did have a facelift front bumper on already. HTH

    TD5 ECU Remap - Experiances?

As ^^^^ avoid ebay specials and plug in boxes, go to a pro and you'll be happy - we had our Td5 remapped by Alive Tuning and were delighted with it - it transformed the behaviour and feel of the truck. I'd def go back to them if I had another Td5, plus you can get discounts if you visit them at...

    My 300Tdi rescue thread

Got the front carpets in now as well - I decided to remove the centre console anyway, but the seats didn't need to come out in the end which was a relief as they're chuffin heavy lol So she's taking shape quite nicely now. I took her for a longer run last night to make sure that the brakes...

Good old 300tdi with a little whining!!

Looks nice ChugChug2 ! Wish mine was that clean lol. And no leaky sunroofs either! I'm doing something similar, but taking a different approach - I'm talking about the lift. I love the ride quality of my Disco and after fitting over-firm Old Man Emu suspension to my old Td5 Disco, I'll be...

A few pics of the carpets - he did say they were very very muddy :) After 20 mins with a power washer.. And the rear carpet cleaned and fitted Just got to fit the front carpet now - but that involves removing the front seats and centre console, hence I didn't have time yesterday.

    My 300Tdi rescue thread

Fitted the new Allmakes vacuum pump this morning - it took an hour or so overall. Access is a bit awkward as I'm a shortarse and the pump is half way down the engine block... so I was standing on some caravan steps :D Anyway, it did the job and the brakes are back to normal - ie 'ok' lol. Not...

    Back in the fold.....sort of.

Welcome back to the fold :) I also had a couple of years in the landyless wilderness before regaining my senses :D Good job on identifying the leak as diesel - most people assume its an oil leak. I take it its coming from the rear of the drivers side of the engine? If so its most likely going...

What is it and whys it leaking.

Yep, brake vacuum pump. What happens is the rivets holding the end plate stretch or snap entirely allowing the lubricating oil to spray out. It needs changing pretty quickly as if it fails entirely you'll lose brake assistance and believe me a D1 takes a LOT of stopping - without the vacuum pump...

Should we blank out the EGR knowing what we know?

Just another thought - there were rumours a while ago that an EU reg would force the MoT test to check for the presence/functionality of the EGR valve if it was fitted at the factory, in the same way that a cat is checked... so if anyone is thinking of removing their EGR it might be worth...

What is this part called - A rain guide?

Dosbox - a tip for you if you're looking at corrosion prevention. You'll have a piece of soundproofing stuck to the bulkhead behind the engine. This covers the bulkhead from inner wing to inner wing IIRC. The problem is that it goes right up to the inner wing preventing debris from being...

I've got a beige one. Its a bit slow to retract but I've been using it ok for a few months. I'm going to be fitting out the rear with storage shelving etc so won't need it. Is that any good to you?

    My 300Tdi rescue thread

I don't think there is anything left now flatline - he's using the oily bits to get his other D1 300Tdi back on the road, plus a couple of us in the club have scavenged most of the other bits off it lol. What are you after - I can ask him if he still has those bits...
