While I'm at it, worth also re-enforcing the point - when you're undoing the bolts that hold the manifold down (and also the smaller bolts that hold the coil packs in place) go easy (especially when tightening.) it's really soft alloy and can easily strip the threads. make sure you slap a bit...

RE: plastic manifold cover, you don't *need* to remove it, but doing the rear plugs is a real PITA if you don't. Removing it is dead easy though and a good opportunity to do some other stuff. (You'll need to remove it if you want to get at the injectors for the rear 3 anyway and considering...

Of all the noted issues with the freelander, this has to rate as one of the weirdest.

That's the problem mate. It was in my previous freelander but never used it as they'd put an aftermarket head unit in that didn't hook up to it. I know it turns on and ejects the disc carrier no worries but afraid beyond that I can't guarantee that it's all good.

^^^ this. Must admit I've read so many horror stories about all the things that can go wrong with freelancers that I'm now scared ****less every time I drive it listening for every sound and grumble and figuring it's going to explode any second.

I have the amplifier with mounting brackets and screws that goes under the passenger seat. Also the 6 disc Alpine CD changer that goes under the driver's seat. Came from a 2003 Freelander 1 (pre-facelift). No cabling. The CD changer works fine but I'm not 100% sure about the amp, but no...
